Italeri 1/72 Junkers Ju 52 3M
The film "Where Eagles Dare" left me with a lasting impression. On several occasions I saw the Ju 52 used in the film during visits in Switzerland. It crawled in the sky and I could not imagine that this big aircraft would finally succumb to the down drifting winds from the Alps.
Italeri's Ju 53 is a nice kit depicting well the outlines and corrugated skin of the aircraft. To complete the special camouflage for snowy condition, I added skis instead of the wheels.
Excellent result and a very nice scheme, Rafi!
Thank you Spiros!
Where Eagles Dare was the first thing I thought when I saw the build. Love that film and this is a great great build my friend.
Thank you Matt.
This Ju52 turned out wonderful, Rafi @blackmopane
The winter camouflage scheme is indeed beautiful.
Thank you John!
Nicely done Rafi, interesting, different.
Thank you Allan.
Nice job, Rafi
Thank you Gary.
Your Tante Ju is much more realistic than the flawed but entertaining movie.
Thank you Dan.
I did not realize that the movie's scheme was flawed.
I'm no Ju-52 experten, but it isn't shocking. It's more the movie which I enjoyed as long as I ignore all the real history and anachronisms like the Nazi General's Helo.
Very nice Ju-52! I like that scheme. I've got one of these in the stash, and have been dreading the question of how well the decals will conform to the corrugated skin. What setting solutions and/or technique did you use?
Thank you Greg!
The decals did not perform well. I usually use Mr. Softener with stiff decals. If it does not work, I use paint thinners of different variety going from the mild to hard solvents.
Well done - it looks right at home on that alpine airfield!
Thank you Chas!
Great subject! Love this movie, this kit is on my list, replicating exactly the one from the film, as you did...,Browdsword calling dany boy, browdsword calling dany boy!
Thank you Eduardo.
The aircraft in the movie had no skis, but a standard landing gear.
