A7-55 the only one, built at the Cockatoo Island Naval Dockyard in 1931 under the supervision of Lawrence Wackett, it was used to locate the missing Antarctic explorer Lincoln Ellsworth in 1936 from onboard the Royal Research Ship, Discovery 2.

    All the rigmarole with all that rigging would be too much for me.
    If I squint just enough looking at the first photo with the blue carpet, it actually looks like the aircraft is on water.
