1/72 S-model Somua S35

October 10, 2024 · in Armor · · 8 · 49

I will be short on this one. I’ve received this model as a price for scale model competetion. As a strong opponent to communism period in Former Yugoslavia, I had to bite the bullet to assemble this little Somua in partisan service.

In fact, I didn’t know that partisans in Yugoslavia had Somu in their arsenal, as a matter of fact after getting this model I read that partisans captured tank from Germans, painted it green and put Yugoslav flag with red star above visors.

I decided to do this model because of few reasons, first it is very small and it can be done in few hours, even with pletora of scratchbuilding I’ve done to it. Also, I must be honest, I hadn’t heard for this manufacturer before.

The assembly is straight forward, I saw some real life pics of this particular Somua, so I decided to put some minor weathering to it. It is very small model and enjoyable to build, especcialy in my conditions with little 16 old baby around my workbench.

I don't understand why the background turned to some kind of pinkish , even after I took photos under natural light.

So, I hope that You willl enjoy this one, chhers and feel free to comment!

  1. Excellent result, especially for such a small model, Djordje!

  2. Nice little model. Concerning the pink background, I suppose that the automated colour control of digital cameras is "used to" mixed colours and if you have only green colours, tries to compensate that with the pink background. (I've had similar problems with other monochrome subjects).

  3. This is an excellent result on this really tiny model, Djordje @sheol
Especially more difficult with someone around your workbench trying to get attention.

  4. The mantlet is quite interesting - not a standard Somua mantlet. Any information on this?

    • After capturing Somua partisans took off the mantlet and cano and replace it with another mantlet and 6 pounder canon. I've read and saw some pictures regarding this particular Somua amd was informed that this tank found its end after turning upside down 🙂
