"Behind the front line"- U.S. Army, Winter 1944/45

This scene is supposed to represent an improvised medical station in the rear area of the main battle lines for the fastest possible first aid of injured soldiers.

I didn´t give a more precise location or date, because I wasn´t completely sure how well the architectural style of the church façade would fit into the ideal region- Belgium, Ardennes, towards Germany...something like that...
An episode of the HBO series "Band of Brothers" also had an influence on the idea, if you may know it.
It is different in principle, but the components are the same.

The idea of this dio was originally not the story, but the attempt to combine a scene with a relatively small dimensions with a certain optical height and the combination with a relatively small vehicle is also intended.intentional.
When choosing the color scheme, I tried to capture a "wet-winter mood", to work with contrasts and still create a uniform image... no idea if it worked that way... anyway.

Jeep (), .30 Browning from Mini World (A7226), new grille from (72006), tires (), offers the snow chains ( ) and a small PE detail set () for the Heller/Airfix Jeep.
A somewhat suitable radio for the Jeep was built myself.

The two US GIs () are modified accordingly to my imagination, the Red Cross sister is 3D printed and offerd by Germania Figuren (GF 72 WW2-530).

Many of the existing elements are scratch built, some others are resin cast or 3D printed.
As well as a lot of different stuff for the construction of the underground / environment.
The church used various old parts of 1:87 buildings, normal and textured plastic sheets.

  3. This is an amazing result, Simon @s-nagorsnik
The painting is wonderful, especially the figures in this scale.
Also the winter effect is very realistic.

  4. Very nice dio. My only criticism is, that the church is too narrow - even a small church would be about 10-12 m wide .

  5. I think you achieved the idea that you wanted, great subject, a lot going on in this dio.
