Fairey Battle Mk1
Just completed. 1/48 Trumpeter Fairey Battle Mk1, 301 (Pomeranian) Polish Squadron, RAF, Bramcote, England 1940. Nice to get back to the bench for a while.
The kit has some problems but overall was very enjoyable. I couldn't care less about the complaints on canopy shape or the prop being half a mm too short etc.
But, I'd not recommend using the canopy masks as they had trouble sticking at the curved parts. I used Tamiya tape for those areas.
The red in the decals are too bright so I used spares. I painted the tail markings.
The undercarriage feels very flimsy and I'm concerned they will break at a later stage. I'm considering strengthening them. Will see.
When you add that up and include the other issues that may concern others, I think it's fair to say Trumpeter could have done better with a bit more care. But it's done and it looks good next to my Blenheim and others in my RAF section.
Nice work on that, Paul. That kit is a little spendy considering its issues at $80 for me.
Thank you. Yes I agree. It was $109 in Australia. You'd have to be a big fan of the type to want it enough. I wanted it to add to my growing RAF collection. Luckily ICM and Airfix are doing some great things in that regard as well. They are far better kits.
It looks terrific, Paul, despite the challenges the kit posed. Nice job.
Thanks so much mate.
Got to assume (sorry) it's 1/48? Haven't heard anything about a 1/48 Battle. Guess it has to be at $80.
At any rate that's a well done build, does look delicate, with a lot of fiddly bits.
Yes it's 1/48.
It's the 2nd to be done in that scale, Classic Airframes being the first years ago. I built that one and this is by far, much easier. Very enjoyable build despite those few problems mentioned.
Excellent result, Paul!
Thanks mate
You really got a very nice result out of this kit, Paul @paulwoodyvanacker
Painting those tail marks is so much nicer than using the decals.
Thanks mate, yes painting them is so much easier really. Just a bit of masking and it's there forever, no peeling etc.
For whatever little niggles you have had with the kit Paul, it certainly looks excellent. Certainly fits the build of early RAF aircraft. Super
Thank you, yes overall it was a real pleasure to build.
I'm hoping we will see more RAF bombers in 1/48. They deserve to be recognized. My money is on ICM to continue what they're doing.
Great looking model! TY for posting this. Had read on cybermodeler in the list of new releases but haven't seen much anyplace else.
Thank you.
I really like this one! You are tempting me with get one. Very inspiring.

Thank you. It's an enjoyable build. Good luck if you do get one, I hope you do.
Really nice! I enjoy the obscure aircraft. Nice paintwork.
Thank you. I don't feel it's that obscure, but I'm a big RAF bomber fan.

Very nice! I live in Pomeranian region
Nice one, that would be very cool to be in the area.
I'm a bit far from there. Australia. LOL.
Inspiring. Mine is on the bench right now and I hope i can finish it close to what you have accomplished. I am enjoying my build, but painting guide a bit hazy as to landing gear and such. Will use your pics to help my build!
Thank you, I'm glad I can help in a small way. Looking forward to seeing yours.
Very good construction. I really like the attention to detail.
