AMT F7F-3 Tigercat

April 25, 2013 · in Aviation · · 6 · 2K

Hi Everyone

One of my favourite aircraft is the , I first saw one in a old Tamiya Mag, and planned to build one myself one day.

The kit is pretty good, the plastic is very soft though. Plenty of flash and my kit had been attacked by the infamous rubber tyres (Mr Surfacer to the rescue!). The props are from Hasegawa Hellcats, as the kits props are not correct.

The decals are from Three Guys Replicas and worked fine and plan to build another one someday. The wheels are True Details and I sanded the bulge down a little.

The base is a Eduard cardboard base glued to a craft timber base. A small pin inserts into the front wheel to keep her on the ground.

Thanks
Darren

  3. Very nice looking job!

  4. IMHO the Tigercat ranks as one of the most handsome twins ever built. Glad to hear that the kit should be within my building ability - some day...

  5. Great looking Tigercat Darren! The AMT kit is fun to build even with it's short comings. It would be nice to see one from Tamiya.
