1/144 Minicraft CC 137 Husky
And another re-shoot ! This model was originally built in Aug. '07. Picture 8 is an I P taken after the decals had been applied. (a CanMilAir set) This was a woefully bad kit, but the only game in town at the time. The white is Tamiya X1 with Model Master Chrome Silver and FS31136 red. The Aircraft Grey air doors were made from die cut pre-painted decal film, and are 4 mm square. A few pieces of BMF were also used. It's lightly weathered with graphite and "rubbing" the Chrome Silver with Q tips before dull coating.
These modified 707-347C's served the Canadian military for a number of years as transport and refueling aircraft.
Awesome build! No.7 pic. looks real, Can't beat the look of a 707/137.
Thanks Robert ! I had great reference material for the build.
For a "woefully bad kit", it sure looks nice...! 🙂
Thanks Craig !
WoW! This is a great job! The paint scheme is simple but very attractive. This is another Winner, Phil!
Thanks Jeffry ! It wasn't simple to do:a lot of masking was required. I thing I used half a roll of 3M tape.
It's famous about Heller's quality. congratulation for your victory against it!
Thanks Hongseob ! I've built four Heller kits over the years. The best one was the Canadair CL-215 water bomber.
A great-looking, big bird!
Thanks Greg. The inspiration for this built started with a picture of one flying over the Rockies. I contacted Bill Burns at CanMilAIr and I had a decal set in record time. Then the build started------
Nicely done Phil, looks good.
Thanks Allan !
I always liked how 707s looked, and this one looks very smart in this livery.
Thanks George !
Um- I am confused. Heller made 707s in 1/125th scale (a very early kit) and 1/72nd scale (dating back to the mid-late 1980s).
Is this the 1/144th scale Minicraft kit? If so, it would go a long way towards explaining the kits mediocrity. Right now, the only decent 707-300 series in 1/144th is made by Authentic Airliners and its rather expensive. However the Roden 720B is quite nice.
In any event, nice job making a respectable model out of what you were handed to start with.
You're right !
And when the case has 250 or so builds in it. (and your're in your 60's) a little confusion is acceptable. Thanks David !
Well Done, Congratulations.
Regards, Dirk / The Netherlands.
Thanks Dirk ! Glad you like it.
Great work Phil. A question: What are the silver panels on top& bottom of the wingtips? Tia.
Thanks ! They are as far as I know, areas left unpainted where antennas were located.
