Spitfire Mk XIVe in 1/32 scale Pacific Coast Models – by Tony Prince.
There's something appealing about the more muscular shape of the Spit XIV. At the time I built this one PCM had not yet produced their XIV & the only way to get one was to use their Spitfire Mk.IX kit, do some serious surgery & add RB Productions aftermarket resin nose, prop, spinner, exhausts, radiator housings, fin & rudder for the necessary modifications.
I also added 4 spoke resin wheels from Master Casters, scratch built brass tube undercarriage legs for both appearance & load bearing & machine guns to suit the 'e' wing.

An award winner! I'm not a big Spitfire fan but your build seems exceptional. Just the correct amount of "wear and tear" over a great paint job.

I have to agree with you, those Griffon engine Spitfires just look mean. Sort of like going from a gentleman's airplane to a street fighter. Apart from the early marks, my favorite has to be the Mark 22-24 series with the big tail.
Tony, Nice Job. I too really like the late mark Griffin powered Spitfires-"Mean looking" I currently am working on the PCM Mk XIVc (and about 10 other things too). Its a nice kit and hopefully I'll get it done sometime soon.
You've done a really thorough job with this, Tony, lots of research for the detailing, your love for the Spitfire really shows through in this model.
