Subaru Imprezza WRC '99

April 20, 2020 · in Automotive · · 6 · 1.7K

Hi folks!

It has been a while! I started working away again at the end of last summer, so didn't get much build time through the autumn and winter. Our hotel had to close though due to recent events, and I am currently furloughed back home. Trying to draw a silver lining from the global pandemic, I'm back at the bench with some new stuff to post!

This build was originally started by a friend. I tried to get them into the hobby but it wasn't for them. I took over after the chassis and suspension assembly.

The kit itself is a scale, and was built straight out the box. The kit is quite old now I think and is showing its age. The most notable aspect was that every single sprue was moulded in blue plastic. I've left a few panels off the underside of the car to show a bit of detail, but the exhaust and axles are covered on the actual machine.

I'm not really very knowledgeable when it comes to WRC, but it says "Burns" on the window, so I'm guessing it was piloted by Richard Burns. Google will be able to tell you more than me on this one!

I've got a couple of other builds coming along quite nicely, so hopefully I'll have them in the headlines soon!

As always, thanks for looking, and stay safe.

  1. That's a beautiful job of a great car, Richard. You cannot see many twodoor Imprezas.
    All the best!

  2. Nicely done Richard, a shame Evelynn didn't continue modelling but I think she gave you a good head start with this ! -------- Richard Burns with co driver Robert Reid WRC 1991 - 2003, championship winners in 2001.

  3. Classic Tamiya, I wish that they would do more.
