Douglas X-3 Stiletto 1/48 Lindberg
The Douglas X-3 Stiletto was a 1950s United States experimental jet aircraft with a slender fuselage and a long tapered nose, manufactured by the Douglas Aircraft Company. Its primary mission was to investigate the design features of an aircraft suitable for sustained supersonic speeds, which included the first use of titanium in major airframe components. Douglas designed the X-3 with the goal of a maximum speed of approximately 2,000 m.p.h,[2] but it was, however, seriously underpowered for this purpose and could not even exceed Mach 1 in level flight.[3] Although the research aircraft was a disappointment, Lockheed designers used data from the X-3 tests for the Lockheed F-104 Starfighter which used a similar trapezoidal wing design in a successful Mach 2 fighter.
This is first of my future collection X-planes, next will be X-1,X-15, D-558 and Xf-4 Skyray. I saw some photos this experimental planes together on desert, and i want it . 🙂
Kit is very old and very simply, i rescribe and do some new things-cockpit and nozzles. Decals is original from kit, after two weeks on window and sun i use Decal Liquid Film from Microscale and on kit Decal Adhesive from Tamiya. Used colors is Tamiya X-2 White,Alclad Polished Aluminium, Steel Extreme Metals from Ak and Tamiya Xf-16 Aluminium.
I know,that something is not good, but i satisfied with my first piece of x- plane collection.

Nicely done Josef, especially since it's such an old kit. Probably too late now but the USAF Museum has one on display along with some great pics of the X-3. You may want to check out their other X-planes.
