iModeler March Awards
Throughout Europe, this time of the year is full of anticipation and excitement with many spring modeling shows competing for attention and an airshow season about to commence soon. I'm writing these words on a plane towards Moson Model Show, looking forward to a prime modeling treatment during the weekend (watch this space for photos from the event) - and finally happy to announce the results of our own spring show, the iModeler March competition!
March brought a total of 92 new entries at iModeler which prompted a record 1433 comments. As usual, we are awarding the iModeler Best in Show title to the winning entry, but also list runner-ups as Honorable Mentions. We think that all are great modeling accomplishments that deserve recognition.
iModeler Best in Show - March 2014
Emeterio de la Iglesia Blanco is one of the previous winners of our Random Award. This month, the same builder brought us pictures of the completed Random Award kit (Eduard's 1/48 Polikarpov I-16), but also stunned everyone with the fabulous rendition of Wingnut Wings' 1/32 Sopwith Snipe. Although we've learned to appreciate all of Emeterio's modeling creations, the level of realism conveyed in the Snipe really is among the best - inspiring thoughts on what's possible to achieve through modeling. This model stunned us, brought many enthusiastic comments from the iModeler community and then spinned off some more commentary on Facebook. The Sopwith Snipe receives the distinction of March iModeler Best in Show!
But wait, there is more! – the Random Award
We are also awarding a prize as a token of appreciation to all our contributors. This is selected through an entirely random draw among all entries of the month. The lucky winner in this round is Olivier Rive with his Mirage 2000N 1/48. A big thank you for bringing these French aviation subjects to iModeler!
Honorable Mentions: 5 Extraordinary Finalists
(in no particular order)
- Jim Sullivan - 1/72nd P2V-5 Neptune Conversion
- Dmitry Stropaloff - Vought V-173 Flying Pancake
- The 1/48 Mirage F1C-200 from Esci by Rapid27
- Geoffrey Abreu - 1/48 Hasegawa HS-129B-1
- Mark Housley - My Little Polish Outdoor Museum
Congratulations Emeterio, a worthy winner.

All the best:
Emeterio.
Emeterio de la Iglesia Blanco= the artist and grand master of plastic. Whats really neat about these builds or the choices being made are modeler driven and reflect the modeling community while showing some outstanding and skill full craftsmanship. However, in this case the craft has been taken one step further. I love the natural wood turtle deck ...
three thumbs up.;)
Thank you very much Stephen! I'm not a master at all ! really I consider myself an apprentice and I'm trying to improve my skills in every model that I do.
I really appreciate the comments you have made.
Best wishes:
Emeterio.
Well done all!
Thank you very much Bryan!
Best regards.
Emeterio,
If you are an apprentice I truly want to see and enjoy your work when you master the art of model building. You may only be the apprentice you say you are but you are right now a true artist. Congratulations.
Congratulations also to the rest of you. Mark, your diorama is stunningly well done.
Thank you very much, Frank, for your kind words, but there's a long way to go for me to become an artist.
Best regards.
Congratulations Emeterio. Your winning build & the others were all exceptional this month.
Thanks a lot Al!
Best wishes from Spain:
Emeterio.
