1 :1 C-47 Thats All Brother

April 18, 2021 · in Photo Collections · · 14 · 2.1K

What a great weekend, Saturday was the Indianapolis Model Show and Sunday I paid a visit to the Butler County Regional Airport to see the "That's All Brother". Flown in by the Commemorative Air Force SW Division, the A/C actually dropped 101st Paratroopers during D-Day and survived the war. Great restoration as she looks brand new. Also on display was a PT-17 and a couple of WACO's that were in pristine condition. My camera battery died so I can't show you the 1964 Studebaker Avanti that was in the parking lot. She looked nice as well.

  1. So nice to see things coming back to life slowly. Refreshing.
Thank for showing these photos Tom. The C-47 looks brand new !

  2. It looks like a really nice day, Tom (@tom-bebout). You can't lose with a C-47 and a Stearman. Before the pandemic, my daughter and I got a chance to take a class in Austin by a well-known aviation photographer. We had a Friday night class on photographing planes, then we spent Saturday with the Commemorative Air Force in San Marcos. They had all of their planes set up for us, as well as several re-enactors who were dressed in British and American uniforms, including one young lady dressed as "Rosie". They were getting "That's All Brother" ready for the flight to France for the D-Day remembrance. Fun day. Lots of photos.

  3. Perfect day for this Tom! Im hoping to catch see it Tuesday evening at WPAFB, though weather will be much less favorable. Looks like a great time.

  4. Nice shots, Tom.

  5. Tom @tom-bebout glad you got the chance to see TAB. She is actually based in San Marcos at the Centex Wing. When the CAF began the restoration, I made a donation and there is a plaque with my Father's name on it.

She's a beautiful plane with a great history.

Thanks for sharing those amazing pics with us.

  7. Oh Man!
A model swap/show and a visit to the airfield? What a day!
Quick Q: How would they box and package that 1:1 scale?

  8. Two of my cousins worked on this when it was being restored at Basler in Oshkosh!

  9. What a treat! Hard to choose, but the Cabin Waco has to be my favourite in this series. Hopefully we get this far in Europe with opening up later this year.

  10. Just great pictures, thanks for sharing!

  11. Great pics Tom! The Indy Show and a chance to walk through a C-47 in the same day? My head would have exploded!
