Super Etendard Modernise by Kinetic in 1/48.

May 31, 2021 · in Aviation · · 20 · 2.5K

One of my all-time jet favourites, it somehow just looks so right to me that I couldn't put off building one any longer. Kinetic looked good although the instructions were a bit short on detail. The 'net more than made up for it though, with a huge number of excellent reference pictures. The build was pretty straightforward & I chose the simplest colour scheme in the interests of expediency. Decals were excellent although I baulked at putting on all the tiny, almost invisible ones, especially as the eyes are not quite up to the old standards. The French do make 'pretty' fighters don't they? This one's from Aeronavale Flotille 17 as she was in Afghanistan in 2008.

  1. This is an amazing result, Tony @tony-prince!
I love the one color scheme, as it enhances this bird's elegant looks (yes, the French do make beautiful planes!).

  2. Very nice build, Tony.
And I fully agree on your statement that the French did built some nice looking aircraft.

  3. She's a beauty, Tony, and that colour scheme really suits her. The French do indeed make beautiful things, especially old Citroen cars, definitely liked.

  4. Nice work, Tony. The Etendard is indeed a looker. I agree about French planes. Dassault has a knack for attractive designs.

  5. Beautifully done, Tony.
You may have chosen the 'simplest color scheme' but it still shows the plane Super Etendards great looking lines!

  6. Beautiful model of a beautiful airplane! Well done sir!

  7. I don't know if "The French" know how to make pretty planes - they do make some that are remarkably "unforgettable" for various reasons. Dassault never made an ugly jet though, that's for sure. And your model demonstrates that fact. Nice work and a great paint job.

    • Thanks for the kind words Tom. I must agree, "Unforgettable" is describing some of the French aircraft especially of the 1920's & 30's, in very kind terms'. This one was a pleasure though.

  8. Looks great! I also like almost all the French jets, and need (like you) to build more of them! Well done.

    • Thanks Greg. What got me started was a video clip of a couple of French pilots flying at about 20 ft. above the ground in Mirage F1s I think. Crazy stuff, but it got me hooked!

  9. Sweet build of a cool airplane!

  10. Nice! Great looking color scheme.

  11. Many thanks Robert!
