Hasegawa 1/72 P-47D Engine run up

July 8, 2021 · in Aviation · · 13 · 1.5K

I enjoy photographing my models just as much as I like building them. Here's an example. I shot this scene with a Nikon Coolpix 950 ($18 on eBay). This camera has excellent depth of field. Tarmac is sand paper, crew chief is from the 1958 Monogram F-105B, fuel truck also from and bits here and there from eBay.

  1. That's a cool shot David @Thevid! Let's see some more of that scene! 🙂

    • Thanks Gary. I only post one photo of the scene which is the finished product. I'll post more settings.

      • Here is another scene. These images are one off and only made for the camera. The figures are from Hasegawa, Preiser and Revell and the P-38 is Hasegawa and the Jeep is Academy

  2. Great depth of field is right. Cool composition and realistic lighting. Is that real prop blur or post production trickery?

    • Hi Don. I shot this on a table top with one light source. The prop is spinning with the aid of a small fan. I try to remember and use brass tubing to mount the prop into a larger tube. I don't manipulate my photos except for cleaning up dust and such. I'm old school that way.

  3. Very realistic picture, David @thevid
The classic, but effective way to get a prop spinning.
Would love to see more pictures from this diorama.

  4. I thought it was photo of the real thing...
Congratulations David, on both model and pic taking!

  5. Nice work, love the composition.

  6. Very creative!
