Mirage 2000-5F Modelsvit 1/72

December 20, 2021 · in Aviation · 13 · 4.5K

Another kit build for a collector, Mirage 2000-5F Modelsvit. When I start this build the 5F was not available yet, then I convert the 2000C in 5F. The Modelsvit is an excellent kit. If scaled to 1/48 would be still at the top, and no aftermarket would be needed. To complete mine I purchase a Berna Decal sheet just for the tail unit insigna and few other detail. Most of national insigne and stencil come from the kit sheet.

I add a Reedoak pilot and an Hi Teck ejection seat. The kit seat was very nice, and should not have need to be replaced. It was so nice, that after assembly and painting, I decide to store it in a safe place, so safe that it was impossible for me to find it again !

To start the conversion I had to scratch build the ventral pylon for the mica missile, and I cannibalize and rescribe two large wing tank, from an Italeri Rafale. They also need a different pylon that was scratch build.

Instrument panel was modified to represent the advanced one of the 5F version.

Panel line and rivet where very subtle, I decide to rework all of them whit MRP tools.

Paint came from the Ak real color range, thinned whit their specific thinner.

Lets picture talk.

  1. Absolutely super sexy! The Mirage 2000 is one of the most perfectly designed aircraft there is when it comes to looks. You did a great job on the...well, everything really, but the paint job is spectacular.

  2. Looks great!
How was the Reedoak figure? I have seen that they have excellent ideas, but never talked to anyone actually using those figures.

  3. Super nice work, this is a great looking Mirage 2000!

  4. Totally gorgeous. The weathered look is just right for a well-used aircraft. The fine detail you have added, especially riveting, makes it looks like 1/48 - or the real thing! Also refreshing to see a pilot figure to add color to the overall composition.

  5. Awesome work, Robert!

  6. Beautiful work overall, with especial kudos for the finish. You could have had me believing this was 1/48.

  7. Roberto, your work is just plain exceptional! The model itself is so beautifully finished that I wouldn't know what scale it was unless you had told me. Top marks all round; not forgetting the hangar setting, which just provides the finishing touch.

  8. Fantstic work on this M2000, Robero @roberto_colaianni
    Definitely love the paintwork.
Looks much bigger than a 1/72 kit.
