1/32 Kittyhawk F-86D Sabre Dog
Finally finished after over a month of frustrating assembly and painting. This is the model I posted about a month ago in which I stated "was a total loss", but after taking a break I picked it up again and finished it. Many fit issues which compounded as the assembly progressed. Definitely not my best work but it will do. Still getting my skills back after not building for 3 years; this is my second build following that break. The build is mostly OOB except for some wiring. Hope you enjoy the pictures.
Nice results! Sometimes just finishing is the ultimate reward. Congratulations on not giving up on it!
Glad to see you finished it. I think the end result is pretty cool.
Turned out great, Paul! Great to see you back building and posting here. Really, that is work to be proud of, even more so because of the ultimate triumph of hard-fought completion. 🙂
Great result and even greater the fact that you decided to finish it, Paul!
Congratulations!
Nice job, Paul. I like the look of the finish.
Nice work!
Absolutely enjoying the pictures, Paul @jjetmec
To me this is a great looking kit.
Beautiful paintwork and weathering.
Really beautiful paint and finish work. It's nice to have you back as a contributor to the modeling community!
@jjetmec - Fortunately, your ability defeated the plastic. This looks quite good. Chalk up the victory to talent, skill, and plain old stubbornness.
Another one of those Kittyhawk kits that makes me wish that the KH designer had actually achieved the dream he once posted on FB - to die in a shootout with government authorities. (I'm not kidding - he really said that! It explained a lot.)
Paul, you mean this beauty was slammed as a total loss a month ago? God damm! I can only fear what one of your more fortunate, call it a flawless build, can become 😉
No kiddin, this Sabre Dog looks terrific. You should see my “total loss” projects lol
Glad you finished it.
Kittyhawk was one disappointing company. I wanted a lot of the subjects they put out, but their design/engineering left a lot to be desired.
I assumed they would have just upscaled the beautiful RM 1/48 Dog Sabre. Boy was I wrong.
Welcome back Paul - a little late so apologies! This place will be all the better with your builds - absolutely stunning!
Glad you got her done, she looks great!
Wow! Looks great. I admire your ambition to do a 1/32 model in natural metal after a long layoff. And then coming back to finish it so well. Your dedication is noted, and I will try to use this when I encounter my next setback.
Which will be soon, I'm sure.
Super Job Paul!
It looks great!
