Airfix Bf-109 G6
I had planned on doing a side by side build of this Airfix kit and the 109 G6 by Tamiya. However, I messed up the paint job on the Tamiya kit and I’m still contemplating how I’m going to fix it without having to strip the entire model. (Suggestions are welcomed.)
I was able to successfully complete the Airfix kit. The Tamiya kit is far superior in detail. The Airfix kit has a representation of a seat and a pilot to go with it but that’s about it for cockpit details. I elected to add some basic details like an instrument panel, some seatbelts and joystick. The canopy is pretty thick so a viewer won’t see much even if looking closely.
I used decals from BarracudaCals and paint from Testors Model Master and Mr. Color.
While the detail is not up to Tamiya standards, it makes into a nice looking model at a 1/3 of the cost.

A 109 in 1/72 scale is very small but yours does definitely look much bigger.
The paintwork is very nice, especially the overspray performed on the markings.

I think it looks great, Scott (@guitarhack5). Looking forward to the Tamiya build. If you are worried about the small areas of overspray, I think I would thin the paint down a bunch, turn the pressure on your airbrush down into the low teens, and then clean up any lines you might be worried about. Personally, I think it looks fine. :o)
Nice work Scott! The overspray technique really turned out great. Its a very complicated but subtle technique. You pulled it off well. I have an Eduard 109 kit that calls for that kind of twice-painted appearance too but haven't had the temerity to try it.
