Coming from Dora Wings ; P-47B and P-47C

January 7, 2023 · in News · · 5 · 1.1K

These sprue test shots have just been posted by . The kits will come later this spring. There has never been a dedicated model of a or P-47C. The closest one could get was the Hasegawa kit of the P-47D-1, where the cowling flaps could be modified and the kit's lack of the deeper keel was correct for the early P-47C.

The P-47B differs from a shorter fuselage, different canopy and slightly different shape of the cowling. Also fabric covered rudder and elevators (which was what created all the problems with compressibility dives when the fabric covering blew off); the fabric control surfaces were also on the first 200 P-47C-1s but later replaced.

The P-47C kit is engineered to have both the "shallow"belly and the later deeper belly with the keel for carrying a drip tank, allowing the modeler to create an early and late P-47C. The kit also comes with the 200-gallon ferry tank as well as the later 75 gallon pressurized tank

You can say "thank you TC," since I have given Eugen the information necessary to do decals for Gene Reynolds' "Spokane Chief" from the 78th group's 84th fighter squadron in which he scored the first triple for an VIII Fighter Command pilot, and Charles London's "El Jeepo" from the 83rd FS in which he became the first "all-P-47" ace (Don Blakeslee was the first to become an ace flying a P-47 when he shot down two in June 1943, but he had two RCAF victories and one in the Spitfire with the 4th FG to make 5). Also Bob Johnson's "Half Pint" in which he survived being shot up by Egon Mayer.

With these two kits, you can do every major production version of the P-47.

  1. I like it. Hopefully it builds almost as nice as the Tamiya.

  2. Judging from the sprues, the kit looks fantastic, Tom. Yes, thank you TC.

  3. Nice informative post, if the parts fit well ,I believe we have a winner, and must have kit for the modeling community.

  4. Thankyou, Uncle TC.
