Yellow Wings...1/48 Grumman F3F-1, VMF-2, USMC
11/2023
My dad´s next biplane, the first of some upcoming yellow wing subjects.
Accurate Miniatures kit, accidentally decals for their -2 kit were packed in the box, so my dad decided to use them and do a Marines bird, all the numbers were puzzled together, the rudder is painted.
Fuselage painted with Mr Paint White Aluminium, wings with AK Real Color Aluminium, upper wing with AK Real Color Yellow. The kit´s PE parts used for rigging. There were also two little PE parts for a ring and bead gunsight that has to be added to the telescope gunsight, but both parts went MIA on the floor...
EZ Line used for the antenna wires.

Model shows the aircraft of the Section 2 leader, VMF-2, based at San Diego in 1937. Most F3F-1 were used by the Navy, only few by the USMC.
The yellow wings make for a very attractive model.
Nice work! That’s one of my favorite kits.
Great job on a pre-cat Grumman.
Nice build. I love those Grumman biplanes!
Another exceptional build!
Yes! Another Spreitzhofer masterpiece!
An absolute masterpiece indeed, Reinhard @grimreaper
Well done.
A very accomplished build - it captures the look of those biplanes very accurately.
Gorgeous little aircraft. If the Saab J 29 Flying barrel had been created in the 30s it would probably looked something like that.
I have that kit and made a mess of it. Yours looks fantastic, very clean. Well done!
🙂 … Greetings … 🙂 :
Fit for display on a USMC museum, clean, sharp and historical looking.
IIRC Boyington and Galer with in that squadron. Beautiful job, great kit.
Very unusual subject!
