"Soviet Beast"-- TRUMPETER JS-2
This is a great kit by Trumpeter and the only soviet armor I've ever done in my 40+ years of modeling. I actually finished it years ago, but it was just green, flat and boring. I came back this week and decided to add a light whitewash to it, done with hairspray chipping and some oil rendering. I added metal tracks of course as the kit tracks didn't allow the sag and heaviness I was after of this monster tank.
I did all the weathering with pigments, oils, and some enamel washes. I also used the Ammo shaders, which I have come to really like as I am an airbrush addict for finishes. I used the dirt and grime and they are a pleasure to work with if you like using an airbrush for weathering. Nice satin, slimy finish.
Anyway, hope you like it. G
I can hear it idling, Graeme, great result.
Thanks Dave. It was fun to bring it to life. Sat there shelved for 5 years. I love taking a near done and making it finished.
Excellent job, Graeme!
Thank you Spiros @fiveten.
That's very realistic looking armor, Graeme @graemestreet
The applied winter scheme and weathering is superb.
Thanks John @johnb. I have a love hate relationship with the hairspray technique. Sometimes it’s a winner other times it’s a mess. I kept this one light so I wouldn’t mess up.
Great update to give the kit new life. Your photography is so good too. Thanks for sharing.
Carried out quite well sir
Wonderful build & love your shots.
