Hello Gents,

Here are a few pics of a few of my and here are the kits IDed.

Airfix 1/72 DH Mosquito PR XVI - Added aftermarket exhausts and wheels

Eduard 1/48 P-51B - Added Look instrument panel and PE seat harnesses. Great kit and really the cockpit out of the box is very detail and only needs seat harnesses.

Hasegawa 1/72 Beaufighter NF.1 - CMK cockpit, aftermarket wheels and exhausts. PE radar and antennas. Added detail the rear cockpit including the rada set.

AFV Club 1/35 M24 Chaffee - Added resin .50 call, stowage from Blast Models and Value Models; and Fruili Tracks. Figures from Bodi and Alpine.
AFV Club 1/35 WC51 Beep - Out of the box except for stowage and Alpine Figure

Hobbycraft 1/32 P-51A - Added Vector cockpit, resin main wheels, gun barrels from brass tubing, ID lights from a Hasegawa 1/32 P-40 and landing light lens from a Hasegawa Spit V.

Modelsvit 1/48 BF-109D - Out of the box. Started the model about 3 years ago, but the paint kept coming off when I removed the masking. Was trying to do it as a Hungarian bird and got some frustrated I stripped it and did Moelder's bird. I did wash the model before painting and even Floquil paint would come off.

Thanks for looking.

  1. Getting the P-51A as "well used" as the photos show it was ain't easy! Nice work on all.

    • Thanks Tom and it took some time using enamel washes and very thinned layers of paint.
Attaching the windscreen was a major headache the Vector instrument panel shroud interfered with it. Also, the ribbing on the tail control surfaces was much too pronouced and it took a lot of sanding and filling to make it look better.

I forgot to mention that in the mid 1990s I met the pilot who flew the P-51A I built in
the famous pic of the 1st Air Commando P-51As in formation. His name was Aurele R. Van De Weughe and it sounded familiar to me. If you followed the NBA back in the 1970s his nephew Kiki played pro ball and if I am correct played for Denver.

  2. Those are some very nice builds, Kevin @chenango55
2024 was clearly a great modelling year for you.

  3. Very nice builds, Kevin!
Wishing you a happy, prosperous 2025!

  4. Thanks Spiro and really like your work too!

    • Very nice and diverse collection of builds. I am curious about how the Modelsvit 109 went together.

      • Thanks Walt for the kind comment. The 109 fit was pretty good with minimal filling. I think it is a good kit and the cockpit out of box is very nice. As I mentioned I had a real issue with painting. The Hungarian birds had the tricolor panels and each time I pulled off the mask paint came off. If you get the kit make sure you clean all the parts thoroughly and use a primer. I did not use a primer, but there is no guarantee that would have made a difference as even Floquil came off. Overall I think if is worth getting unless you want to settle on the old Hobbycraft kit or can find a Classic Airframes kit at a good price.

  5. Nice output. Like the different genres.

  6. Thanks Gary and I try to vary my builds as making only one genre can be boring. Also, it gives me a chance to use skills or techniques that may only be good for one genre. This year I hope to start a dinosaur and perhaps a large scale Star Wars figure.

  7. A great collection of builds - I especially like the two Mustangs.
