Year of the Lamborghini

January 11, 2025 · in Automotive · · 13 · 118

As some of you know I've been living and working in China for a few years now, therefore my modelling year ties in with the Chinese lunar calendar, which this year begins on 29th January.

I suddenly realised that I had never built a model , so I decided to put that right and have mainly built 1/24 scale Lamborghinis, here's the first one:

The finish on the rear wing and dashboard is my attempt at replicating Lamborghini's chopped up carbon fibre embedded in resin. Someone said that it looks like seagull droppings. Here's the next one:

Like the previous one it's another Aoshima kit.

Now we have a Fujimi example.

Back to Aoshima again.

And another Aoshima Murcielago.

As Lamborghini is owned by Audi I thought I could include this Meng kit.

That's it for now, there are still plenty of Lamborghinis to add next year including the Miura, Countach, and Diablo. Happy new year everyone.

George

  5. Confessing my ignorance- what’s the modelling scene like where you are

    • Hi, John @johnaitken, thanks for looking. To answer your question, modelling is very much a minority interest here in China, I think mainly because there is no history of it. I was introduced to it by my father, a keen modeller of veteran cars himself, and by my elder brothers, getting on for 70 years ago. The younger generation here don’t know of its existence, and even if they did their parents wouldn’t let them waste their time making “toys” when they should be studying. I hope that answers your question, John.

Cracking builds, hard to choose a favourite.
I’d pick the murcielago if I could have the real one!
