Slowly heading towards the end of my Moson photo galleries... After the armor, aircraft and diorama classes, here's the fabulous display of figures at the 2016 Moson Model Show.

Always impressive to see those who are talented enough to paint figures realistically. More of an artist than a modeler, I would think...(of which I am neither).
Those are really great. The artistry is incredible. Gotta say the D-Day infantryman on Omaha Beach (#65) is the most completely realized - like a 3-dimensional photo.
I agree...that one really stood out - wonder if it's 35th, 20mm, resin, plastic, white metal or what? Too bad there wasn't any accompanying info on these examples.
Regarding the helmets, I think scale is between 120 and 200 mm and it should be resin (details of the helmet-net seem too fine for White-metal or plastic)
It is difficult to see the scale from the photos, but the D-Day GI figure was clearly larger than the lot. If I remember correctly, 200mm sounds about right.
I've thoroughly enjoyed every posting from Moson so far, thank you very much, Martin. Are there going to be any non-military postings?

The quality of work is so universally high it is difficult to choose - however personal favourite is the GI on the beach - the dynamic nature of the figure and the pose has that extra factor
Yes the quality of that one was photographic!
A mixed group for me, but all very good of course.
Some techniques and subjects widely seen at shows, and executed to varying skill levels; I thought the Confederate soldier standing with the Stars and Bars probably the best all-rounder.
Having just judged a Figures category at the Milton Keynes show this past weekend I'm uncomfortably aware of the impact of a very few points between a Gold and Silver on artists who have all worked to the same degree of excellence. Some people happy, some not so much...

Funny you would mention the Confederate standard-bearer; this was also one of my favorites, not least because of the fantastic rendition of light and shadow on the banner.
Judging in contests is always difficult, and when all comes around - it's a beauty contest, so what is "right" for some may not be equally worth praising to others.
The pirate is nice... arrrrgh!
