I'm a retired Lieutenant Fire Fighter / EMT. Prior to working as a Firefighter, I also served in Law Enforcement for several years.
In following with our long line of family military service, dating all the way back to 1776, I'm a US Army veteran (tanker). I served mostly in the M-60A1 and eventually the M1-A1 series tanks. I was a crew member in the Abrams only for a short while.
My Dad was kind of like "Lt. Dan" from the movie Forrest Gump. Fortunately dear old Dad broke our "family curse" of having members killed in every major conflict that the United States has ever had. My Dad was wounded in the Korean War, and thankfully he was not killed. Otherwise I wouldn't be here if he was. I accidentally happened some years later...
My other hobbies include restoring old "Mopar" muscle cars from the late 1960's and early '70s. I also enjoy building aircraft in 1/48 & 1/32 scale, along with 1/35 Armor. I especially like the WW2 stuff. Lately I have been gravitating towards the First World War 1/32 scale aviation kits though...
I built my first model (Revell 1/32 P-40 "Flying Tigers" version) when I was 8 years old. I currently have about 700 kits ( of which about 1/4 are built).
Here's another completed project from the 100 Years of the RAF group build.
This one also happens to be the monthly random kit award that I received from Martin and his staff a while ago. As promised, I wrote a kit review on the model, [...]
Here's tonight's entry for the 1940's decade of the RAF. Hopefully tomorrow I can post up a few more from this era.
This model is the fantastic new tool Airfix kit. It was released back in 2015 if memory serves me. I saw it in the [...]
This one should have been posted last night as a part of the 1930's decade... but I didn't get around to posting it.
I had a lot of fun building this one. It's the new tool Airfix Hurricane, and it is a really sweet kit to build. The [...]
This is my second build for the 1930's decade as part of the 100 Years of the RAF (there is yet another 1930's Hurricane Mk I to follow).
When I saw that Airfix had released this kit which would build up a very early Spitfire with a two [...]
The time is upon us to reveal our 1930's aircraft from the RAF. This is my first reveal from the 100 Years of the RAF Group Build. I have two more to go from this decade.
This model is the older Classic Airframes kit in 1/48 [...]
Today I had the pleasure of meeting with Jaime Carreon and Joe Caputo (fellow Imodelers) for the very first time in person.
The misses and I headed to New Smyrna today with Jaime and Joe... The first stop was a great visit at American [...]
Here in the USA we are having our Thanksgiving Day Holiday. This is a day where we are supposed to be thankful for the blessings we have, and to celebrate the first "meal" shared with the Native Americans by the Pilgrims. It also [...]
Recently there has been a lot of excitement with Tamiya announcing an all new tool Spitfire Mk 1 in 1/48 scale. But do we need another Spitfire model? After looking at the various photos of the plastic trees, and a video review online, I'm [...]
Here's another article that I hope you enjoy... This time it's based on Tamiya's excellent Me-262 in 1/48 scale.
This model was started as I was "hitting the wall" and getting bogged down with research on the group of 4 Tamiya [...]
This is something that I have been meaning to do for a while... I'm finally posting the last FW 190 from the series of four planes that I built for the Kasserine Pass Group Build. Thanks again Dave Thomas, @davidathomas
for coming up with [...]
