Baby boomer trying his hand at building models again for the first time. Things have certainly changed since I was 16. Tube cement, small testors bottles of paint and some decals, what more was needed? Started building again in 2009 and have begun learning some new skills and techniques ever since. Have lots of appreciation for those that do excellent work with this hobby, some of the results are truely museum quality. Hope to pass on a love for this hobby to my grandson.
My second A-20, the first was a G model and it was so bad my grandson took it home where it shortly crashed on takeoff. I used the long range aux tank on this one as I assumed it was needed to get them to the MTO. Had some issues with [...]
Long time no post so here's my latest in the A-20 Havoc line of aircraft. Seems I have an unusual attraction to the A-20. To date I've built the C and G models and now the B for your review. Seems that most B's went to the Russians so I [...]
After a long period of no posting it's time to begin again. My first attempt several years ago at a twin engine model and I choose this old Monogram kit. The B-25H was the most heavily armed aircraft produced during WWII. In addition to [...]
A couple of years ago I'm visiting my brother and sister-in-law and noticed she had displayed a photo of her deceased father and the crew of his B-17F Double Exposure. Bernard Brailer is in the second row, fourth man going from left to [...]
So you sit down ,open the box and tell yourself that you're really going to take the time and produce a museum quality piece with this one. Maybe next time. Had some warped plastic with this one, some paint issues and some decals that [...]
Another one of those old Monogram kits you can pick up at a show for a few dollars. Development began by Rebublic slapping some swept wings on an F-84E but then they completely redesigned it around the J-65 engine and the Thunderstreak [...]
The North American F-86D was and attempt to produce a transonic all weather interceptor with a search radar. All guns were dropped in favor of a retractable under-fuselage tray that carried 24 unguided Mk.4 rockets. Though based on the [...]
Since shark week continues here is my contribution. Since Tom Cleaver did an outstanding job explaining the details behind the K model I'll refer readers to his contribution. This is the old AMT kit to which I added some True Detail [...]
Since this was my first attempt at building a jet, why not build America's first attempt as well. Did purchase a True Detail cockpit set and it fit extremely well, the kits office is a joke. Saw a photo of a P-59 with drop tanks so I added [...]
Received this kit as part trade from the daughter of an IPMS modeler. Was one of my first attempts at building a twin prop AC. The B-25H was designed as a commerce strafer and carried a 75MM cannon in the nose as well as four .50 Cal Mg's. [...]
