Very nice work done on the interior part, George @gblair
In most cases PE does indeed add a lot of detail but requires a lot of additional work as well.
    Great work on yours.

Thanks, Eric (@airbum), Spiros (@fiveten), Eric (@eb801), and John (@johnb). I am hoping to close things up today, but my granddaughter is coming over, so who knows? Thanks for the info on the cowl. I ready a couple of reviews and they didn't have anything about the cowling, so I will look a little more. After seeing the wheels in the kit (split down the middle), I may replace those. Cheers everyone.

Got a little more work done on the cockpit, and it is almost ready to close up. I had some problems getting the kit instrument panel to fit due to the added PE, but I think everything is sorted out.

I did a little research on the cowling problem that Eric (@eb801) discussed. I found a couple of reviews that said that the rear of the cowling, which is composed of two pieces, is smaller in diameter than the one-piece front of the cowling. They said it was difficult to fix. I also found several reviews that reported no problems with the cowling. The only cowling replacement I could find was in Australia. It was a good price, so I ordered it. My plan is to continue with the build and see if I have trouble with the cowling. If I don't, then I will eventually have a replacement for the 2nd Sea Fury that I have. If I do have problems, I will have to wait to get the replacement from Australia. When I first opened the kit last week, I noticed that the wheels were split vertically, which are really hard to get the detailed tread to match up. I ordered replacement tires last week, so they should be here soon. No new pics, but I will get some soon. Cheers.

Assembled the cockpit tub. I had to do a little work to get everything to fit along with the photoetch, which was just thick enough to mess up the fit in places. I need to go back and paint the edges of the photoetch in places so I won't have that shiny edge exposed.

The cockpit looks superb, my friend @gblair!
Let's see how the kit provided cowling will conform. Looking forward to see the replacement wheels.
You are right about the compass.

Looks like your granddaughter left you with some valuable time, George @gblair
    Beautiful results on the interior.
I'm not a pilot, but I can imagine that instrumentarium far outside your usual view is not that practical at all.

Thanks, Spiros (@fiveten) and John (@johnb). One of the first things you learn in pilot training is that turning your head messes with your inner ear and can cause vertigo, especially in instrument conditions. I always taught my students to only move their eyes in instrument conditions if they could, and keep head movement to a minimum.

I really like this kit. Everything fits perfectly and the detail is great. The blue plastic is a little soft and loads up the sanding sticks fairly quickly, but they clean. I read a couple of reviews that said their "normal" glues had trouble keeping the parts stuck together. I decided this would be a good time to try some glue from Deluxe Materials called Plastic Magic. It is supposed to work on just about any plastic. I have been using it for assembly and it seems to work very well. I found a solution to the paint color used on the interior of the wheel wells, wing fold, and cowling interior. The instructions tell you to use Humbrol 74, which is called Linen. I wanted to use acrylic paint if I could find it. I found some online photos of the gear bays, and the color looks like a lightened form of the yellow color used in the gear bays of some US WW2 planes. I got a tin of the Humbrol for comparison purposes, then got some Vallejo Model Air US Interior Yellow. I made a color card and compared the Humbrol with some lightened Vallejo, and they are close enough for me. That's probably it for today. Cheers.

    Good progress, George @gblair
Those tabs do seems to do their job very well.
To my eyes the Vallejo mixed with white does indeed look very much like the Humbrol.

Great progress and nice approach to the "linen" color, my friend @gblair: if it looks right, then it is right.

@gblair. You are moving right along with this Fury. Vallejo Air looks just right to my eye as well. Regarding all this cowl hoo-ha, read what Roy Sutherland of Barracuda Cast has to say about this kit just for yuks. I got a set of his resin wheels and they are superb.

Yep...if it looks right, then it is right , as Spiros mentioned above.

Thanks, John (@johnb), Spiros (@fiveten), and Eric (@eb801). I am really impressed with this kit, so far. I just finished the wing center section, and everything fit perfectly. I test fit all the cowling parts, and they all seemed to fit, so I glued the cowling together. Everything looks like it fits almost without a seam. The fit to the fuselage also looked good, but I will know more when I actually fit the cowling to the plane. I have a set of tires coming in the mail, and I ordered the replacement cowling, just in case. I have a second Sea Fury that I can use it on. I am wondering if Airfix corrected the fit problems in later runs of the kit, because mine seemed to work fine. I will add some photos later.

The gunsight is a true work of art.
Some great engineering by Airfix on this wing mechanism indeed.

The detail work in the cockpit really is fantastic @gblair. Steady hands are a must for that. Nice job!
