I like Mr. Bean! ... and Sean Bean, too. They're father & son, right?! Or brothers; or ... somehow related.

    Or not ...

Anyway ... that's a great photo of you & David Mills! I had to laugh, though. I never named "MY" Davis guy - but he sure ran up a few Amazon purchases! It's a dirty job, but SOMEBODY has to do it - like buying those "absolutely necessary" parts! Davis must have relatives here across the pond.

Seriously, I've been watching but not commenting much and your Orca is absolutely wonderful. Great work-arounds as needed, ie: making the needed and working block-&-tackle. The rigging looks great, too.

I get the Sean Bean thing quite a lot...especially after a rough weekend.

Anyway, this evening I finished the ‘glazing’ on the Orca...

And sat for a while thinking about how to make the flying bridge ladders. I used two small bore, styrenetubes, heated over a candle and shaped to fit. End product looks great.

It’s going to be fun making those steps. Need a jig. Maybe with a shanty. And a tot of rum.

    Time for bed.

Jeff, ‘Davis’ actually has his OWN Amazon account. I’ll come back from work and one of the kids will say, “uh, Dad, package from Davis in the kitchen...again”. Next time he sends me something I’ll post a photo. Generous guy.

Ah, ‘The Sandlot’ - right up there with ‘Stand By Me’. Set me out the door with a smile this morning, James. Thank you.

    David my friend,

you have paid for this amazing build with some cuts to your finger I believe, yet this pales in comparison with your Doppelgänger at the movies. Sean Bean is notorious for not surviving his roles! I am sure that the similarities between you two end with the good looks, but just to be on the safe side why not ask Davis for a Kevlar vest or sumtin‘?

    @dirtylittlefokker

    Cheers,

    Aleks

(Ah. Mr. Robinson. Please don’t encourage him, the mental framework is feeble enough as it is and I resort to sending him the odd gift here and there to distract him from ‘reality’. He won’t see this message, as David has a peculiar blind spot for anything in brackets; it comes from being traumatised some some years ago during a lawsuit where he was blindsided by a particularly nasty clause. If you think it’ll keep him ‘happy’ then I shall purchase the item photographed above. I thank you for the inspiring, if somewhat juvenile, idea. I am sure it is perfect for his ‘tastes’. @jamesb )

James, never mind Davis, I’ll have to buy that one myself. Brilliant, and my son and daughter-in-law will love it, too.

    Thanks.

I need it now, its kind of a haiku for my stage of life!
    Love it James @jamesb

Enough said. 🙂 Maybe another gift as a T-shirt for Davis.

297 postings on still going strong. I’ll bet we can break 300 by the close of business today !

I just have to say - this thread makes my lunch-time a real treat! Sitting at my desk, eating my salad, and joining in the frolic! (ps. Davis has a cousin here in Tulsa...)

(If you see my dear cousin in Tulsa, tell him he still owes me my share of that $10,000...)

This evening I put together a little jig to get the flying bridge ladders nice and square.

The ladders turned out well, getting all the angles straight and, quite amazingly, they went together first time! Made from styrene tubing.

Gives me confidence for the next part, which is the rails for the pulpit - a defining part of the build as it’s very prominent throughout the last act of the movie. Lot of interesting angles and shapes in that assembly.
