Must have been a tough decision to take it apart in the end, Cricket @bikequeen
Was the heat shrink provided by the kit or did you use one of your own.

@bikequeen - The teardown and rebuild seems to be worth the time even if it's just for the mental benefit of knowing you did it.
The truck is very cool as well as all of the new kits. Looks like they'll all be fun builds.

@fiveten Thanks again Spiros, the truck is run, the tear down was relatively easy, putting it back together will be a bit more difficult.

@johnb yes the heat shrink came with the Top Studio kit, 3 different sizes, 2 black and one clear. The clear is supported to be heated and stretched to size but it doesnt work very well. I have clear tubing from an old Tamiya 1/12 Ferrari I hope to use instead.

@brithebuilder The rebuild of the harness is two fold. it will look better and the tubing over the spring makes it more rigid so it should lay better on the frame.

We will see see today is rebuild day :). I wont be adding all the different size wires etc they recommend not needed I will use 2 different sizes…that should be more than adequate

Routing all of the wires and tubing is always a problem with motorcycles, Cricket (@bikequeen). Although a pain to fix, at least you didn't have both ends already completed when you decided to correct it.

@gblair @johnb @brithebuilder @fiveten rebuilding it worked to my advantage. The instructions that come with these kits are very vague and jumping for this kit to Tamiya instructions are time consuming as the sequence of steps can be off putting. Anyway reconstructing was good as I was able to add more on the front end of the harness because I now know where all the extra wiring goes. Also the harness will be stiffer because the spring is encased in tubing.

    Now to reassemble it all

    3 pics before

and after and the front where all the tiny wires will connect.

Wow, Cricket (@bikequeen). The diagram for the wiring looks like something an electrical engineer would use.

@gblair. Thanks George, it was complicated to be sure … jumping from one set of instructions to the other is a bit nerve wracking

Here’s a quick photo update , the take down and redo came out great! The “nose” components are all worked and some of the engine. Very tedious work!

Here are some pics of the new harness installed, sadly they are kind of dark. Bike is very dusty so ignore that :). It will be a long week so I dont know when I will b able to get back to this. Thank you all, once again, for all your comments and encouragement 🙂
