You did an amazing job on this engine, Cricket @bikequeen
You might hate the used materials, but you handled them perfectly well.

Hi Cricket @bikequeen, that engine looks great, and I have to agree that the only instant stick is when it is between two fingers. Sorry my comments are so slow, but I am extremely busy at work at the moment

Spent most of the time looking over parts and the multitude of instructions pamphlets and online Top Studio site. It’s confusing looking at aftermarket directions and trying to figure where they come into play and what sequence on the kit so Ive been procrastinating.

Wanted to start the chain but I need a water soluble glue before I do that. I did put the rear sprocket together this morning. I also remembered a trick i used to use to oil clock pivots way back. Dip closed fine pointed tweezers (Dumont #4 or 5) in the oil, move the tip to the spot that needs to oil and release slightly and the oil goes precisely where it’s needed. It works for CA glue too, it’s good for a few times and then the tweezers get “clogged” but it’s a simple matter to use a Exacto knife to scape the glue off. Also the CA glue stays fluid in plastic soda bottle caps for hours and hours.

So anyway I digress here are pics of the sprocket…a but sloppy w glue…I’ll try and clean it up later 18 parts on this sprocket not much bigger than a US dime.

    Extremely detailed sprocket, Cricket @bikequeen
Wonderful trick with the CA, I will write that in my notebook.

Wow, Cricket @bikequeen, rather you than me with those detail parts, I think this is where your watch making skills come into play.

Welp what started out as a pain in the butt project turned into a disaster. clever design but truly a pain in the A$$ Here are various progress shots that took 2 full days to compleat and it’s a mess and I may not use it at all now, or do a hybrid of plastic kit chain and metal one.

I’m disappointed in myself as I thought I could tackle it but it was not to be. Section building was ok but connecting the sections was near impossible Nothing at all like the Tamiya Africa Twin chain which was sure genius

The kit is a kit in a kit in a kit and the jumping around is really disorienting……SIGH 🙁

@bikequeen - Sorry to hear the chain is that difficult. I did also find it a bit confusing to understand where in the overall build the Top Studio stuff came into play. I attempted to go through the Tamiya instructions and pre determine which step used TS parts, made callouts in the kit instructions and numbered the TS instructions to match the Tamiya step #. Hopefully you do get the chain to be useable, it would be a shame to not end up using the sprocket.

@brithebuilder …. Oh I am definitely using the sprocket :). And yeah jumping back and forth between the instructions is a bit overwhelming sometimes

The chain is certainly impressive, Cricket (@bikequeen), and I can imagine the detailed work involved. You have certainly climbed a mountain with this chain. Well done.

Fully understand the frustration on this chain, Cricket @bikequeen
At a certain moment you want to get ready with it, not fiddling with it for two days.
I do hope you can get it to work as it does look very nicely detailed.
