Now it is ready to glue on the lower sections of the wings. This is the scary part of this build, I did not do a good job cutting, trimming and sanding the wing sections. I glued the wing tip sections first the made my way towards the fuselage. I did not want to glue the lower wing near the fuselage with the leading edges glued together. I wanted to make some room the allow the lower wing match as close to the lower part of the fuselage, I did not want to have a big step. With the leading edge close to the wing root, I filled in with scrap styrene pieces.

The gaps with the wings to the fuselage was filled in with stretched sprue and later with filler putty.

    Looks great, Bob @v1pro
Vacuum clearly means more putty, grinding and sanding.
Your doing an amazing job on this 112

Lots of effort put into this one, Bob. Shaping up nice. It just struck me that this kit doesn’t feature a full span lower wing which is a huge help when building Vacs.

    it is very difficult kit!

Thanks Spiros @fivete, John @ johnb, Lis @lis and John @j-healy.

In regard to this being a difficult kit, to be honest this is really not too bad. My mind was prepared for this build so that makes this easier to deal with, plus I am enjoying this build very much. What really bothers me more are the short run kits that cost quite of bit to buy and then I have to clean/fix or replace nearly every single pieces. The way I see this kit, it is old and it is a vacu-form so in my head I am good with this. Lets see if I can smooth out the roughness from this build and in the end have a model that will look good from 2 feet away.

Lis @lis, I agree on your comment, this would have been easier to have a full span lower wing. I noticed the earlier Rareplane kits are set up like this model while some of their later releases has the lower full span moulded into to the sheet.

This looks like an amazing build, Bob @v1pro, maybe imodeler could start a reality TV show called “ Extreme modeling”...

those Horizontal Stabs sure seem large compared to the wings .

I read a book where the author interviewed former Luftwaffe pilots . I forget which one said it, but he said the 112 was better then the 109 ... but Willie Messerschmitt had better political connections with the Nazi leaders. He said the shape of the wings might have made it difficult in combat to distinguish the 112 from the Spitfire.

Lis @lis, earlier today I started sanding the seams and the putty filled gaps. So far not bad.

Jay @ssgt, that would be a cool program. I would like to see something like that to see more vacu-form builds in progress. I just hope it won’t scare off too many from this hobby.

The tail does look big on this little plane. Besides Willie with his better political connections, the He-112 plane took much longer to make compared to the 109, the wings took a lot of time to produce. Similar story on the He-111 bomber’s wings, the later 111’s had a straighter leading edge compared to the earlier ones….less time to build and cheaper.

You’ll have to build an HE-100 too, Bob @v1pro. I think Lindbergh made a 1/72 model of that.
