Indeed spectacular looking at this stage, Jay @ssgt
The last 15% still means a lot of time to complete.

Today I was able to get the various life boats , Cranes, and other small parts installed and/or painted.

I’m also trying to scratch build some of the masts that attach to the foreword tripod. The parts in the kit seem to represent the type on the ship after it was modified from 1929-1930. In the photographs from 1941, it seems they have been changed.

I used left over parts from another ship model and also some .025 Evergreen plastic rod to try to make something similar to what was installed on the ship at the time of the Japanese attack.

I know my scratch built parts only faintly resemble the original parts, but it’s a step forward for me… a life long OOB builder.

    thank you , @lis !
The Dog is named Boo. Generally he is a nice person, but he has his moments, like we all do I suppose.

Again nice progress Jay @ssgt. A little scratch building is always good for the modeler’s soul. I think you will be happy with the end results.

I like your scratchbuilt parts. It is always a rewarding exercise! Your Arizona is a fitting tribute to all the sailors and soldiers that paid the ultimate price on 7 December 1941.

    Hi Morné...(@morné)
Thank you for your kind words , I appreciate them . It’s good to remember those that have died in the attack.

I installed my scratch built parts. They look pretty good, but they aren’t very robust... IF I decided to add some rigging ( which I’d like to) I’ll have to be extra careful not to break them off. All I have is old school thread from my wonderful wife’s sewing box.

The addition looks great, Jay @ssgt
It would be nice to see antenna wires attached to it.
Maybe you might try out some Uschi or EZ line thread, slightly flexible but still strong.
This might be easier to attach than stiff sewing thread.

Thank you @fiveten! This is the first time I’ve felt compelled to try scratch building anything. It was warranted in this instance.

Thanks for the compliment & suggestions @johnb... I will see if I can find those products locally. I appreciate your interest in my project .
