    Nice progress, my friend @ssgt!
Those prop shafts look very fragile!

Jay, looking good on your progress. I do not know much about model ships but I will learn something from your build.

They are Spiros , @fiveten ! I had to lightly sand off the plastic that connected it to the sprue. The shafts ended up bent. I was concerned it was broken, but after it was put in the supports at the ends where the prop will be attached, it was fine.

Hi Bob, @v1pro, these Japanese destroyers are interesting ships, I’m enjoying the change of pace from airplanes.

Thank you John @johnb, everything is going smoothly so far. My attention span isn’t as great in my old age , so I do just a little at a time. “ Steady as she goes”.

Jay I must agree with you. This Japanese destroyer has beautiful sleek lines and in your skilled hands the end product will surely look even more amazing. Well done my friend.

    Hi Morné @mornem, !

Thank you for the kind words. Didn’t do much to it yesterday, but I bought some clay to put in it to add some weight to it. Sits better on its stand now.

These are some photos of ships of the Akizuki class that I got offa the internet. I think the two B&W photos are the Akizuki . The colorized photo is a different ship in the same class.

    Nice reference material, Jay @ssgt
For me, having lack of knowledge about boats, it is always difficult to tell the differences of boats from the same class.

I agree , @johnb, there are a lot of subtleties that I don’t pick up on. One has to really do some studying . Generally when it comes to building models, I don’t get too bogged down in little details. My work as an airline aircraft mechanic is full enough of little details that must be paid attention to. Building my models is my escape where for once I can decide things instead of some governing agency .

This is great pictorial evidence, my friend @ssgt!
Even the non-Akizuki one might provide very useful detailing info.

It’s always interesting to look at old photos, @fiveten .I wish there were a greater variety of views though.

Was able to make a bit of progress on the ship this evening. The Tamiya Dull Red seems ,to my eye ,to be just right. I think next , two of the main gun turrets and the torpedo tubes are to be attached to the main deck and then attach the deck pieces to the hull.

Looking great so far, Jay! This may just be the inspiration to pull my Yamato out of the mothball fleet...

I've used TS-33 for all my 1/700 lower hulls. It is indeed a great match for anti-fouling red.
