Major painting done so far this weekend. I started yesterday with the Tamiya Red Brown over an enhanced pre-shade ( a bit of last minute darkening over details). I tried to make this as transparent as I could without being patchy (weathering is quite a challenge at this stage). I left the OD Green sections roughed in with no Red Brown coverage in order to preserve the pre-shade for later.
I spend most of Saturday morning doing the complex mirror camo masking with paper, tape and silly putty.
Then back in the spray booth for Tamiya OD. I used my Custom Micron throughout to try to keep a weathered look that wouldn't be too even overall and also to avoid puddling under the silly putty strips.
It turned out pretty well.
One thing nice about Tamiya Acrylics is that you can pull the masking off quite soon after painting as the paints dry so fast. I will now let this cure til tomorrow. I have touch-ups to do in the Red Brown areas where my application was too thin.

1. Too thin and patchy looking - even for weathering. I will fix this when the OD cures tomorrow. Most of these flaws are on the stbd side but are easy to fix.
2. I will also tighten up this underspray demarcation.
I have left the masks on in key areas (especially the underside) to make respraying safer, without marring the overall camo by accident. Overall, I am pleased with the colors. They will darken up appropriately with a Tamiya clear coat prior to oil wash and decaling. I will paint the drop tanks (half camo) and slats tomorrow and maybe do a wee bit of post-shading as well. Hope you like it so far. Happy Modeling.
