Totally agree with you Tom@tclina. It's a great kit and there is a lot to it. I'm taking my time.

The camo looks really nice, Eric @eb801
Did you perform this free handed?

@johnb - yep, all free hand. I did use a pencil to outline the pattern. Most pucarás were sprayed with low quality paint right on sight using whatever paint materials were on hand. The camo pattern varied from plane to plane.

    Paint Step 1 Completed

I penciled outlines using paper stencils and filled them in with a very thin spray of duck egg green trying to make it looked poorly mixed and sloppy like the ground crew would have painted it with whatever materials they had on hand. You can still see my pencil lines. I'll get rid of those in the next step when I go back and spray a second coat and do touch up. Here's where I'm at the moment:

Looks wonderfully realistic, my friend @eb801! Rendering a camo that was hastily applied in the field is not among the easiest of jobs and you already excelling there!

Even after this first round it already looks impressive, Eric @eb801

Great job, Eric. I love the meticulous work you are doing on the camo authentically - persistence pays off. Those colors look spot-on as well.

I am a bit behind in contributing to this GB and the site in general but I hope to get some painting done on the Skyhawk and Super Etendard this weekend. Will post and contribute soon.

Thanks Spiros @fiveten, @johnb, and @coling for the encouragements.

    Final Stages of Painting

I touched up a few more mistakes and "greased" the Pucará with several mists of Future topside in prepartion for the painted yellow ID bands.

After a 24hr cure, I masked the bands off and gave it a light spray of Tamiya Flat white thinned so a bit of the under surface would show through.

After a couple of hours I hit it again with light coats of Vallejo Medium Yellow and here's the result:

Next up, flip the plane over and paint the ID bands on the underside of the wings.

    Great result, Eric @eb801
A white base definitely helps a applying the yellow.

Your systematic approach is yielding fine results, Eric. I like the technique for the yellow bands. It can be frustrating to get light-colored bands applied over a two color camo without the demarcation line shining through (even with decals). The undercoat solves this. The white also brightens up the yellow appropriately.

I may have to get on one of these Kinetic Pucaras, they are clearly lovely to build. So many models, so little time!

    All Done!

Bottom bands completed. I wanted the aluminum underneath the yellow to show through slightly. Now all I have to do is touch up, remove some more masking tape and give the yellow areas another shot of Future. Then it's time for my favorite part - weathering and decaling. The end is in sight now, that's for sure!

Thanks Sprios@fiveten, John@johnb, Colin @coling and Anthony@anthonyricco for following along here and the encouragement. I'm taking this build slow and easy.
