TC @tcinla - to be honest, Tom, I'm not 100% happy with the "in the field" paint job. I think I should have gone a couple of shades lighter. Looks too bright to me. I'm hoping the final flat clear coat will tone things down. So far I have to agree with you, Kinetic delivered a model of the year with this kit.

@db801 - no, that looks right. Remember, those paint jobs were put on a month (or even a few weeks/days) before the airplane went operational. It was automobile paint from the Fiat factory in Buenos Aires. You did good.

Thanks Tom @tcinla. Glad to know I'm on the right track with the paint and all. Fiat auto paint. Who would have guessed?

    Decals Done!
Just got finished with the decals - again taking my time. I used Two Bobs' most excellent Pucara Foreign User/Special Pucaras -48-273 sheet printed, of course, by Cartograf. This sheet contains all the markings for all the Pucaras used in the Malvinas conflict. These are some of the best decals I've ever used. I did use or need any setting solutions - just water. They settled down flawlessly.

Now it's detail time to do a little highlighting and weathering followed by a flat clear coat and then it's on to landing gear and wing tip lights. Stay tuned!

    Flat Coat and Flaps On!
Since the last time I posted, I've attached a few fiddly parts, weathered some panel lines and vents here and there, masked off the cowling rings and gave the entire plane two coats of airbrushed Alclad II Flat Kote as a final finish. Then I glued the flaps in place. Next I will flip the Pucará upside down and add the flap rods and start assembling the landing gear in place. And oh yeah, wing tip lights.

@johnb - Here you go John! I removed the canopy masks and installed the wing tip lights. Note that I have yet to install the seats. A word about the canopy masking first. 7 months ago, I masked the windscreen using "High Temp Tape, ELEGOO Polyimide High Temperature Resistant Tape" that modelers were raving about early last year. I used Tamiya kabuki tape for the rest of the canopy. After all that time being stuck to the clear plastic, the kabuki tape was no problem to remove. However the Polyimide tape was a real pain and stuck like glue. I had to score the mask with a Xacto blade and then it took several attempts to get the stuff to lift up with an angled toothpick. I don't think I will use this stuff again even though I have several rolls of it. It was an experiment. If I do, I will remove it as soon as possible.

The canopy looks great now that the masks are off, Eric @eb801
A pity that the high temp tape masks were difficult to detach, always a risky operation on those delicaat transparant parts.
