Coat of many colors. It's camouflaged now so you will have a hard time seeing it hehe. Bottoms are easy, spray and pray. I have been using the squiggly underspray thing (I forget the name they call it), for the bottom I used Nuetral gray (aha! Marbling that's it!) Main color is Tamiya's new Lacquer, LP-34 Light Gray, with a touch of white. Uppers are Tamiya Laquer LP-76 Flat Earth (There is a flat earth society, right?) Marbling was done with Buff. Then begins the fun. I wanted to stimulate the Curtiss factory matts they used to apply the camo pattern, so I tried this "Tacky" stuff, and made the "worms" everybody makes, to hold the patterns off the surface a little, only the stuff would not stick. So much happy time was spent rolling little tubes of Tamiya tape in lieu of worms. I cut the wing patterns from the nice full size poster Great Wall gives you. No room to hang it anyway. Fuselage patterns were traced. MANY hours were spent getting these things into place, this work is always wonderful fun. When finally complete, I used my last bottle of Model Master RAF Dark Green. Marbling for this was done with White, and Olive Green. At last it was time for the peeling and reveal. For this I had help from my new Orange pal, Jonesey. When we were done it looked pretty durn good, only a bit of underspray to be touched up. I'm pretty satisfied with the colors, choices were made using Osprey's "AVG Colors and Markings". They will "adjust" anyways, after the clears and weatherings start. See ya the end of July, my week at the Lake approaches. Bringing the new Tamiya Hellcat (Sorry, plane guys, it's the M-18 Hellcat) to throw together.
Ding Hao!
