Not a state of the art way to join the wings these days, but you got it done nicely, John @j-healy

This looks really good John. The one thing it needs is the vacuform canopy I got from Red Roo (done for the AZ kit, but it fits.) Took three weeks from order to arrival.

Thanks guys. Tom, I actually have that vac canopy that I bought for my AZ kit. Trouble is, it’s 996 miles away in a storage box in my son’s basement in Illinois. I remembered to bring the AZ decal sheet back last month, but not the canopy. I’m going to bring it back down here on my next trip up there in September. I’ll tack glue the kit canopy until I can replace it.

I’m going to let those wings set for a few days to get a strong joint. To be continued…..

Nice that you were able to remove those push rods from the sprues without breaking any of them, @j-healy. What’s your secret?
Wing butt joints? That is really old school! Haven’t seen that since the early days of Classic Airframes/Czech Kits etc.

Just a sharp blade with a cutting matt underneath, Eric.

PE cowl flaps added. I annealed them with a lighter to make them more pliable. All in all, a decent fit.

Engine and bombs assembled. The engine has great molded detail but pay attention to assembly. Each part needs a precise fit. I honestly didn’t think that I’d get the bomb fins assembled properly. Very fiddly PE. Miracles do happen!

@j-healy - you asked a question over at HyperFail about the bombload of the Vengeance. The answer is, any airplane could carry any bomb that could be carried by its shackles. I have several photos of FAA Tarpon/Avengers being bombed-up with British bombs with the Far Eastern Fleet and US Bombs with the British Pacific Fleet. It depended on where they were and what the sources were. As regards Vengeance bombers in Burma, according to the photos in Peter Smith's book "The Vultee Vengeance in Battle" which deals with Burma there is a photo of bombs dropped by a Vengeance, and they are British bombs. In the photo it's 2 500lb bombs and 2 250lb bombs. My guess would be the bigger ones fell out of the bomb bay and the smaller ones off the wings.

This also fits with photos of other bomb-dropping types in British service in that theater carrying British ordnance.

Thanks, Tom. I knew they used US bombs on the naval types. Wasn’t sure about the Vengeance. I was thinking of using Brit bombs from the spares box if I failed to assemble the kit (US) bombs properly.
