I think we shop the same places, John (@j-healy). I also use Hannant's and try to stick to small and flat items like decals and photoetch. The postage jumps when you order anything in a box, especially if you are paying with PayPal. If have recently done some limited orders from Ebay. I have gotten several newly released kits there, and you can often find some decent postage rates from overseas. For your 1/72 windows, I find that using white glue is often perfect for smaller windows.

You’re right about eBay, George. I got my Fine Molds Ki-15 and Claude from a guy in Japan and both shipped for about $40, including postage. Definitely deals to be found. Scott’s Model Workshop on eBay has become a go to lately also. He’s got some unusual stuff and he ships fast. He’s in California.

I got a little more done on this one today. It’s interesting to see how Airfix has evolved in its handling of the cowlings and exhaust collectors on these Bristol radial kits. These are less fiddly in comparison to the Blenheim and Beaufighter kits. Everything fits without gaps of any sort as long as you keep paint off of the joining surfaces. Pay attention to the instructions as all parts are right/left specific. Also keep in mind that the right exhaust is positioned lower on the nacelle then the left.

Looks like Airfix kit designers have spent some serius quality time in designing this kit (and all "new Airfix" ones, might I say...), my friend @j-healy.
    Nice job on those engines!
    Looking great so far!

    Very nice progress, John @j-healy
From what I remember of Airfix in the past and compare it to their current molds, than they have evolved in a very positive way.

Good observation on the exhausts. Useful information for other builders of this kit.

Coming together nicely, John (@j-healy). It is truly remarkable how much Airfix kits have improved since the old days when they were basically a five pound lump of plastic. I remember reading articles in the 1970s and 1980s, especially in some of the English model magazines, where someone would build an Airfix kit and would scratchbuild and replace large portions of the kit. Certainly don't need to do that now.

Yes, they’ve done another great job on this one. The only downside I see to this kit is that it seems impossible to get an Australian built Beaufort out of these molds. The way the kit is designed and the sprues are laid out precludes it.

You never know, John (@j-healy), you might get an Airfix DAP Beaufort someday. I think both Special Hobby and High Planes have released an Australian version. Perhaps the Airfix and one of these could be bashed into an Australian Beaufort?

Digging around online revealed a new High Planes conversion for the Airfix kit to do a DAP Mk. V/VI. That might be the way to go since I’d like to add one of the early DAP models sent to Singapore to the collection.

Looks good! Did you use any aftermarket parts?

No, Lis. Straight from the box. Made the seatbelts from tape.

@j-healy I really enjoy your build! I want to buy a model and make it in the Pacific version of the RAAF service. Do model have square antenna on the fuselage?
