Thank you gentlemen. I had to use 4 rounds of Micro Sol to get them to drop in place, but that is clearly because it is necessary to make the coloured ones rather thick to keep them from being transparent, so not at all a complaint, just a fact. They do look good when fully dry. I have been searching for some photos of this one showing some stencils or such, but so far none has come to light. Will do some more searching untill the spareparts for my airbrush arrives, then it will be sealed by a few thin coats og clear, and I can get the last bits done. Gonna look great in the bright color inbetween the dark 109's.

    Clear coat

Having found a bottle of clear, the revitalized airbrush gets going

As mentioned in some of my builds, the airbrush gave me trouble. It turned out it was simply worn, the needle and its corresponding opening not quite close fitting any more (probably a microscopic crack in the nozzle)

With a new needle and nozzle, and the gaskets tightened, it is off to the booth again.

    The overall result is OK

Even though a little orange-peel effect is visible

I blame my thinning on that, as I thinned a fresh bottle of Humbrol Gloss with demineralized water 50:50. The gloss clear may actually be more or less the same as the famous Johnson-stuff, and it will most certainly be used a lot more in my builds.

now, while it sets – hopefully not for another 10 months, I have found some of the old spraybooth mojo, and more paint will follow on other projects – my plastic buildboxes will be cleared and new projects can find a home in the empty ones. I feel Christmas is closing in on me . . .

Wow – more than half a year since the last update – and almost 3 years since it was started! Well, I suppose one can’t acuse me for rushing this one? At least I managed to get another update squeezed in before another 10 months passed. A very small update is here @fiveten, @johnb, @mornem, @lgardner, 1corsair64, @gblair, @gkittinger, @luftwaffe-birdman, @lis and @holzhamer

    Is it dry?

As mentioned in the 109werke topic I got the airbrush going the other day

And this one got its final coat – semigloss clear to make it look new and well-maintained

And after a short drying time the masks were off. It is quite fantastic how easy they were to remove with minimal damage to the paint, especially after the rather long time since they were installed. (18 months ago!)

With that it ought to gain speed, but the garden is requiring attention. It seems like there will be a few days where it will be far to hot for gardening, so if I do not melt, perhaps some details might be added?

Thanks gents, another small update is here @gblair, @fiveten and @johnb

    Prop and wheels

The propeller got some silver, and wheels glued in place

With the propeller painted, it was assembled with CA and installed. The quality of the conversion parts are simply stunning. Everything fits snugly where it is supposed to

The doors are next, and with the base-kit being Tamiyas new G-6 they are impossible to place wrong!

As always, now it will have to rest for some time to let the glue cure

Looks great, Erik (@airbum). I think the Spanish 109s with the red and yellow roundels look really cool.

Very nice progress indeed, Erik @airbum
Is that peg supposed to be missing or is that due to a molding issue.

Thanks @fiveten, @gblair and @johnb. John, the pegs are as they should be . there are two holes in one leg to accept the two pegs, and only one in the other to accept the one-pegged door. Just another very nice feature of the new Tamiya 109G-6 kit to ensure the right location of the doors as they are slightly different.

    Is it finished?

I spent a bit of the morning getting the decals on the tail and painting some small items

That brought it up to this point

Just a few last touch-ups and some CA to keep the exhausts in place is all that is needed, but these small corrections are not noticeable on screen I think?

So for all intents and purposes, I shall declare this one finished and amend the heading. Probably a few pictures out in the sun when the last bits are done?
