Pedro, the legs are almost behaving as in their 109G - the right hand one fots like a glove, the left is loose, but as with your build it is very easy to align them with one leg in the right place to start with. Those decals look very troublesome - soapy water might help a bit? i shall have to try that next time I get a set of Eduards own (new) decals. The repair looks great - well done!
The H&S Infinity is a great airbrush.

@airbum You know what Erik? I think you’re right! I hadn’t made that connection but it seems Eduard has an issue with the left gear legs 😉
I agree, the Infinity is a great AB, but I have a long time love affair with their Evolution line, have 2 and they never let me down until recently when using the 0,15 needle only. That’s why I purchased the Infinity. Cheers!

Such a pity on those decals, Pedro.
The repaint is performed very well, no signs of corrections.
Will you continue using the rest of the original decals or get another set?

Good question John! I will definitely use the kit decals, even more carefully this time. For the lost swastika I am using a replacement from other Eduard kit, same size and colours look the same.

This is all great information to know... Thank you for taking the time to post up the good as well as the bad with your FW-190 experiences. I also share the affinity for the 190 type. It's a great looking plane, and the work you have done with the fuselage mottling looks magnificent on yours. I appreciate the assistance you provided when I was asking questions about what type of air brush setup you use. I am very satisfied with the results I am getting with mine now that I am getting a little more used to how it operates. Once we finish up our mutual Ju-188's, look for it to be used again on the 1/32 Revel Me-262 and He-219 kits that are currently underway. I'll also be using it soon on the Hasegawa Ki-45's too.

Speaking of Eduard decals, I still have to build a P-51D ... and I have not forgotten about the "Donald Duck" plane or the one from the 359th, that you were so kind to send me. 🙂

@lgardner Louis my friend those builds are due for both of us 😉

Any Japanese or German mottling/stripes is a good reason to pull the trigger of your new airbrush. Go ahead and have fun! You know I’m always glad to help much like you do to everyone here. Thanks!

P.S. - the Donald Duck decals should behave better than these from the A-6 box, they’re made by FunDecals if memory serves me well

This is going super, Pedro @holzhamer!
Love all the details I see!
Pity about the decals, I suppse you got to get them right first time, or disaster will strike!
    Lookingt forward to your progress!

@fiveten Thanks Spiros! This build is approaching completion fast, but you know how the saying goes “God is in the details” and that’s where I’m at the moment. Amongst your other ongoing projects, I’m looking forward to see that Uhu WIP 😉

You know that unwritten law that says a mistake always comes in pairs? No?! Well I know it and you don’t have to ask me how because this build proves it 😉

After the tail decal disaster a couple of days ago, today, right in the middle of the decal session, my dog bite my finger and in the rush to stop the bleeding I thought using the alcohol placed over the workbench would be a good idea... Nop, the finger continued bleeding and obviously a drop of alcohol fell over the left wing leading edge

The wheel leg also fell in the confusion... another mishap to fix. Not the kits fault but this build seems a sequel of a bad movie.

At least all remaining decals settled nicely and I managed to spray a semi-Matt varnish layer over th fuselage and the top of the good wing

I’ll probably do one last update here before posting the finished model on the headlines

This is a wonderful looking 190, and I'm sorry to hear how you have had trouble with it towards the end. Even with the decal mishap and the drop of alcohol on the wing, it still looks very nice. There are many things I like about this build, and they range from the exhaust staining, the scalloped paint effects on the leading edges of the wings, the very detailed landing gear and cockpit, to the painted on checkers of the nose. I hope the dog bite wasn't too painful, and that you heal quickly, but anytime blood is involved with a bite of any sorts, it just sounds bad.

I'm looking forward to your next installment, and once I clear some projects from the work bench, I can feel a string of Luftwaffe builds coming on next, with an Airfix or Tamiya P-51D mixed in for good measure.

This will likely induce me into finishing up the pair of 1/32 scale Revell Mustangs I have started too.

The next string of builds will include the new Eduard FW-190A2 that I recently picked up from Sprue Brothers. After seeing what you have done with yours, and having heard a lot of good words about this kit, I think it has moved several steps ahead of the others in que... 🙂

Who knows ? Next year we just might even get around to building up our 1/48 scale ICM Dornier 17Z's... and I have still not completely scratched that Ju-88 itch. I have one of the ICM Ju-88A5's that has been waiting for some time now too... and several Dragon Ju-88 variants with a Mistel as a possibility.

Once we wrap up the Empire of Japan group build, we might have to start one for Luftwaffe subjects... Just saying ! 🙂

Stay safe my friend, and Merry Christmas.

Too bad about that left leading edge Pedro, but it sure looks mighty fine to me.

Pity about your mishap, Pedro my friend @holzhamer, we 've all been here, though!

    Per Elvis Costello's song:

    Accidents will happen

    They only hit and run

You used to be a victim now you're not the only one

    Your Wurger looks fantastic!

Yesterday I started the Uhu, putting together the cockpit; this is such a gem of a big kit!

After posting this, I will post a pic in our friend's Louis @lgardner and mine Uhucommon build thread.

Louis, a Luftwaffe GB with you as Admin would be ABSOLUTELY amazing!

Like promised, here’s one last update justo to focus on a few last details about the kit.

By details I really mean small parts, namely formation lights, DF loop and an antenna.

For the fist, Eduard strangely omits them in clear plastic and I’m not even sure if there are small lumps to replicate the bulbs... I don’t recall see them there.

So the solution is simple, stretch some clear plastic rod, trim and paint green and red

The DF loop comes in the plastic, it’s not bad at all but I decided to use a staple bent to shape. Unfortunately no photos.

Finally the small antennae under the fuselage near the tail is PE, this means it’s flat, 2 dimensional only. Easy replacement again with some stretched sprue plastic. Again unfortunately no photo yet.

    Here’s the kit today

just small bits to add and some final weathering so keep an eye on the headlines soon! Thanks for watching and all the good feedback. Hope this small WIP motivates some of you to build any kit from the Eduard’s newer 190 family
