Looks great, John (@johnb). I was reading about the reinforcement ribs in a reference that I have. Nice addition to the model.

I have had a bunch of family stuff pop up for the last three days, but I did manage to finally get the interior done. I still need to spray a layer of flat clear to protect everything, then on to building the rest of the plane.

The Quinta Studios resin interior parts are very interesting. The set I am using is designed for the Zvezda kit, but most of them fit perfectly on my Accurate Miniatures version. The instructions advise you to place a drop of super glue under the decal to hold it in place. They say to adjust the position "very quickly". I think this is especially true of parts that need some extreme bending, like the set belts. On to the fuselage and wings tomorrow. Cheers.

@jblair - I’ve always wondered about Quinta Studios and if they are realistically a noticeable improvement over current PE panels using the sandwich versions. What’s your take?

Hi, Eric (@eb801). I am fairly new to this 3D printed decal stuff. The first set I used was a 1/72 Kits-World set for a B-17. They worked well, but didn't come with any instructions or a placement diagram. I checked YouTube and the video I watched said not to use any decal chemicals (MicroSol, MicroSet, etc) and to use super glue on things that require big bends, like seat belts. This Quinta set is my 2nd try. I like the way they look and feel. The 3D effect is well-done. They have good instructions and placement diagrams. They didn't seem to stick as well as the Kits-World set, but that may have been my fault. I applied the Kits-World over a shiny surface, just like decals. I tried skipping a step and applied the Quinta set over a non-shiny surface. Using superglue attached them just fine. All-in-all, I like these sets and will keep using them. I think some parts look better than the Eduard pre-painted sets, especially the instrument panels. You can also bend these without worrying about the color flaking off. 3D sets work just like decals, so soak and apply, while Eduard involves cutting and cleaning up the small tabs. Also, Eduard lately seems to put the interior detail in one package, and the seat belts in another package, while the 3D resin interior sets include the seat belts. My advice would be to try a set and see if you like them.

@fiveten, @gblair, thanks. Finished the reinforment ribs on the lower fuselage side as well. Used liquified filler to smooth the gaps.
Unfortunately I broke off the tail wheel while handling the aircraft.

Sorry about the tail wheel, John (@johnb). Half of the balance weight on my rudder is now a permanent resident of the carpet. At least I still have half (for the time being).

Looking great, my friend @johnb! Yes, my friend @gblair , everything delicate that protrudes has little chance to remain intact as build progresses...

@gblair, a pity you lost it to the carpet which is always trying to hide things as good as possible. Your experience will for sure result in a nice scratch build copy of the balancer.

@fiveten, thanks a lot. Your are fully right about that.

Made some progress today. The fuselage is assembled, but required a little filler along the seams. Using Tom's (@tcinla) suggestion, I added the upper wing sections to the fuselage, making sure everything went together seamlessly. I have never tried this method before, so I am interested to see how it all works out. I also assembled the nose section and the center wing section. Both of these seemed to be unnecessarily complex, but maybe that has to do with limitations when it was designed and molded. I was doing a little more research today on my color scheme, and it appears that I have chosen another plane whose actual colors are the subject of debate in the IL-2 aficionado community. The debate stems from trying to figure out actual colors from a 1949 black and white photo. More on this when I get to the painting.

Great progress, my friend @gblair! Indeed, some kit areas seem overly complicated. Will be very interesting to see Tamiya's approach.
