That summer paint job looks fantastic, John @johnb. It seems like AMMO/mig has a product for everything. If you decide to do that winter white I think you should let a bit more of that green camo show through. I would be afraid of too much thinner eating up the green so go easy on your mixture. Tough decision.

@fiveten, @gblair, @eb801, thanks a lot gentlemen. A lot of wise words which I will definitely take into account.

A quick check on the website of a hobbystore in my hometown shows that they have the washable MIG paint available at €2,45. First thing tomorrow is a ride towards that store.

Let me know how it works, John (@johnb). I think I would test it on something besides my model before I did something hard to fix. If you decide to try the very thin paint route, I have used the technique on my past couple of planes. I used Tamiya paint thinned with X-20. You can get away spraying very thin paint provided you use low air pressure and build the paint up very slowly. It takes a while, but the color will eventually build up without flooding the surface.

I'd actually go with chipping fluid (or hairspray) as well... temporary winter schemes bring so much weathering potential!
But looking great! I am a bit stalled with modelling atm, as I caught some kind of bacterial infection of my respiratory organs. But I am getting better and managed to do a little bit of work today.

Take care of yourself, Sebastijan (@inflames). It's hard to build a kit if you can't breathe.

I have somehow managed to miss this build journal. I have only looked at a few pages so far, and I plan to read it from start to where it is now when I get the chance. I commend you on your summer time camouflage. It looks incredible ! For me it would be a hard choice to paint over it with a winter whitewash. But the scheme you have picked has a lot of the summer colors showing through, so like Sebastian said it has a lot of potential.

Here's to wishing you a speedy recovery. Get well soon.

@inflames, thanks, Sebastijan. Take care and wishing you a good recovery as well.

@lgardner, thank you, Louis. After how the summer scheme turned out, I'm a bit in doubt myself to overspray it. It makes it a bit of a challenge to get the winter scheme nicely done. Worst case is to respray the entire aircraft. Ofcourse I will give it a try on a paint mule first.

@fiveten, @gblair, @eb801, @inflames, @lgardner, this morning i got my hand on a bottle of washable white from MiG.

Using my paint mule, the current results are as shown on the picture. The wing parts are airbrushed at first and later rubbed a bit with a moistered brush. On the horizontal stabilizers I applied the paint with a regular brush and did the rubbing the same as on the main wings.

I think it is doable to get a nice wither scheme with this but I do need a bit more practise.

Ofcourse, any advise is more than welcome.

Cannot offer any advice, since I have never worked with this kind of paint, my friend @johnb, however your result looks really great!

@fiveten, thanks a lot, Spiros. I used acrylic thinner for the first try, maybe thinning it with water might give a better result.

Looks like you are on the right track, John (@johnb). Perhaps it would work better if you put a clear gloss layer on the plane first, and then added the washable paint. The washable paint might have a weaker bond with the gloss, and be easier and more controllable to remove?

@johnb - George’s suggestion about putting on a gloss clear coat sounds logical. Might be easier to remove any paint mistakes. That Mig wash looks pretty good to me. Is it water soluble?

@gblair, @eb801, thanks for the advice. Bringing on a layer of clear coat does not do harm, so better to do that. The Washable white is indeed water soluble.
Below is the shiny Stormovik with a layer of clear coat.
I will let the coat dry overnight before applying the white.
