Hello folks, here is my new project: Completing the Royal class P-51D Mustang from Eduard. I did the 1st one back in 2021 (https://imodeler.com/2021/03/p51-d-mustang-donald-4th-fighter-group/), and I think it's more than time to make the 2nd one. In the mean time I'm awaiting the

postman for the delivery of the Overlord: D-Day Mustangs again from Eduard.

I'm following thoroughly the instruction:

The Cockpit:

Everythings fit properly. I used only Mr Hobby colors chromate yellow (C27) mixed with aircraft green (C364) for the cockpit and olive drab (H52) for the seat. Then I applied the PE parts without problem (for a change...).

I found a nice trick on a tutorial: To grab the smaal parts of PE I used a wax pencil slightly moistened.

The fuselage:

Again on this step no surprise. It's a pleasure to build this kit.

The sides of the cockpits area's got a coat of: chromate yellow (C27) mixed with aircraft green (C364), the tail wheel chromate yellow (C27) and super metallic fine silver for the air intake (SM201).

Ho i forgot to mention the chose livery. It will be 'Master Mike' from the 'Yoxford Boys', 357th Fighter Group.

A very helpful trick to easily grab those PE parts, definitely going to try this.

You're going to really like the Overlord double combo with the P-51B.

Many thanks gents @tcinla, @johnb, @fiveten. I found time to achieve the mean gear bay and assembled it to the wings..

The colors used are Mr Color C27 Interior green (which is more yellow IMO) and Fine silver SM 201.

Navigation light s in position.

Time to fix the 2 parts together. I got only oen issue: the separator between PS and SB gear flaps was damaged (I already encountered this problem on the 1st model and saw that Eduard did not resolve it on the P-51B)

A pity about the seperator, for sure you will get that fixed with your skills.

Hello guys, after a short break, I resumed the P-51D.
The wings and the fuselage have been assembled.

All fitted properly excepte underneath the engine. I will try to rectify this later with sanding.

The IP is done as well using the PE provided with the kit.

Sanding will definitely improve that issue.

Things really seem to be moving along quickly, Yann @yann. Interior looks great and the exterior looks like it is moving right along. I think the fit on the nose will be easy to fix.

Hi folks, thanks @fiveten, @gblair, @johnb for the encouragements. I spent the weekend in the paint shop here are the results, i'm pretty please with it.

Top side:

I used Mr color with a mix of olive drab H52 and dark green H330

Under side:

I used Mr color Medium sea grey H335

Wings and stabilizers white stripes:

First cut and paste to avoid to spoil the previous steps... Ho yes it happens more than once

Then I used again Mr color H316

Next steps are decals! Almost there! And then I can focus on my other build, an other P-51 but B-C .
