    ANTENNA WIRING
Now I'm speeding to the finish line. Thanks Spiros and John B.
As you can see, I've made some serious progress and now rigging the antenna. I was going to use EZ Line but after I glued one end to the mast, I discovered the styrene is so flexible that the slightest bit of tension causes the tip to arc. Off went the EZ Line and now I'm trying out my old stand by, "invisible" sewing thread. Let's see what happens next.

@eb801 - This is really turning into one of the best models of the TBD I have ever seen. Just really superb work.

    Great looking already, Eric @eb801
Did not expect EZ line to be that strong.

Careful not to overspeed Eric @eb801 🙂

I have used Uschi van der Rosten elastic thread on all but my first builds after re-entering the hobby, and it works like a charm - you can just let it be shy of slack and it will not bend even the thinnest of antennamasts and still look right.

Tom: Thanks! That’s quite a compliment. Detail wise GWH’s Devastator is a big improvement over Monogram’s but it’s not a quick or easy build.

John: To get EZ Line to look good, you have to stretch it tight, other wise it looks like a piece of rubber band.

Erik: That’s it. You’ve convinced me. I’m going to order some Uschi now.

    @eb801
I can confirm Erik's, @airbum, comment regarding Uschi thread.
    It is very, very, flexible.
I have have no experience using other threads, but no complaints so far on Uschi.

Fantastic! With Erik on the Uschi van der Rosten. I use the Super-fine for my 1:48 antenna as I think its more to scale but after looking a few who use the thread for 1:48, I might get some of that as well

Never tried Uschi, I just use stretched sprue...prone to break even by just thinking ot it...
Looking forward to it, Eric @eb801!

    WINGS ATTACHED!
But in the meantime, I attached the antenna without any problems using invisible sewing thread and proceeded to the wing attachments.

Before I go any further I have to confess I screwed up the wingfold crank mechanism as seen in the image below. I got so frustrated by the tiny parts I just left them off:

I continued on and got the wings attached which is somewhat tricky and the instructions don't spell out what the trick is getting a proper fit nor did any online reviews I examined. But here it is. Almost finished at last. I have to add some PE to the pitot tube and do a bit of clean up and then one more work in progress posting and it's off to the photo shoot and headlines. Thanks you all for following along this far.

Looks good but perhaps you should have considered unfolding the wings. Overall an excellent piece of work.

Even you had some issues, they look very nicely fixed, Eric @eb801
Some minor steps to perform before this beauty is finished.

That is one fine build Eric (@eb801). It has been a very interesting journey - thank you for sharing all the ups and downs.

Tom: It was a real toss up about the wings folded or unfolded. But I have to say folded up takes a little less space on the shelf.
