Excellent progress and I loved your paint shaker used as "special tool", my friend @greenterrorz!

Nice work multi-tasking your paint mixer to get the wings on correctly, Keith (@greenterrorz). Well done.

A few more items completed for the D3A1 Val. Won’t be much longer until I have this build in the paint booth.

The kit has two available options for bomb ordinance. A single larger bomb, or two smaller bombs. As far as I can tell, the single larger bomb was appropriate for the attack on Pearl Harbor.

I did have the Eduard detail set which included some engine PE. After putting in the Eduard additions, they just didn’t stand out. They were way too small compared to reference pictures. I decided to cut out the Eduard parts in favor of lead wiring.

    Great steps, Keith @greenterrorz
The improvement of the engine is very good.

All the extras are looking great, Keith @greenterrorz, especially putting the PE on the bombs. I tried that once and it didn't work out so well.

    Thank you @fiveten @johnb @gblair.

After a week of neglect (spending most time on my other project) I finally got the seems properly filled with Tamiya gray putty. I put missing details back in and primed. After curing over night, I went ahead and applied my pre-shade base.

I decided to do the engine, prop, and mounted machine gun in Alclad Aluminum. All three will weathered accordingly.

Your detail and preshading look great, Keith (@greenterrorz), as do your ships in the background. Looking forward to the rest of the paint.

    Thank you all @fivefen @johnb @gblair

Last night’s mission was to get Tamiya XF-76 Grey-Green on. Possibly the most tedious paint job I have done.

As @gblair suggested, I used a circle cutter to make round mask. SOO much better than using the decals that came with the kit. I also painted on the white stripes and another black stripe not shown in these pics. The cowl paint was slightly too thick which lead to a sheen. I should be able to remedy this during the varnish phase.

    Thanks for the compliments @fiveten @johnb @gblair
