Beautiful final coating, my friend @johnb!
Yes, Hasegawa decals are not among the thinnest, truth be told...the result is hardly noticeable, though...
This gorgeous bird seems to be heading towards the finish line!

@fiveten, thanks Spiros, at least they were not that fragile.

    Final bits
Masks from the canopy removed and the car door installed.

Looking at reference material, the door does have a metal bar which guides the door, I tried to replicate this bar with a piece of metal wire and glueing with CA. This also makes the opened door less fragile.

The transparant parts for the navigation lights and landing lights do have a great fit.

Just some minor touch-ups before calling this one finished.

    Finished

After getting back from the Wings of Liberation museum I did spent a bit on correcting the last bits.

Ofcourse there are always things to improve but at this moment I call this Typhoon done.

Next will be shooting some pictures to present it on the headlines.

Thanks to all who have participated in this thread and especially to Spiros @fiveten who did join me in building his Typhoon together with mine. A special opportunity and lots of moments to learn from all the received feedback from all of you.

FANTASTIC work! What paint did you use to spinner cap?

  • Profile Photo
John vd Biggelaar said 2 years, 12 months ago:

@lis, thanks Lis. The spinner cap and the fuselage band were painted in the same color. For that I used a mixture of Duck Egg Green (Vallejo 71.009) and Blue Grey (Vallejo 71.103). I don'trecall the ratio but I kept on mixing till it matched the color of the fuselage letters.

Short time ago I learned about some RAF colors. Duck egg green and Sky are not the same shades. As well as Sky Blue and duck egg blue. Four different colors. Im' asking you about it, because lot of planes had band in Sky Blue or Duck Egg blue, and spinner in Sky or Duck Egg green. Unfortunetly Sky Blue and Duck Egg Blue is hard to find (only Vallejo)

Great work, John (@johnb). Terrific build and terrific result. It certainly looks the part, and I don't often see car door Typhoons.

@airbum, thanks a lot Erik and my appologies for the mix up.
@gblair, thank you George, with this build I even learned about the differences between both types.
