Thanks Rick. No I don't have that and didn't know there was such publication. I did read a review/build report on britmodeler.com before getting started that gave me heads up on a lot of these issues

engines and cowls on. Not too much trouble getting engines in cowls, they fit. getting the cowls on the wings is squirrely though, there are no alingment pins, you have yo eyeball them and hope the match and the engines are pointing, if not the right direction, at least the same direction...

Looks like you got the right ends pointed down range. One thing from the MAI article, Alan says the leading edge landing lights aren't supposed to be there, and he painted over them. You might want to check your references before you invest any time detailing them.

Thanks Rick, I will consider the lights, they are always tricky anyway it sems.

Bernd, the nose glass pieces on test tries fit better than I hoped, except for the one underneath. Becasue it has to match both halves of the fuselage, and because the didn't get aligned perfectly lengthwise, because there are no alignment pins and one half is slightly longer than the other...some extra work and/or putty will be required. There is a complex little assembly I haven't quite figured out that may cover up most of it though.

Good to hear/read about the clear parts and good luck with the "complex little assembly" !
Years ago i messed up a Revell Me 410 with the clear parts, i assembled the canopy at the end of the build and the bad fit destroyed the look of it, i guess you are much more prepared.

Finally up on its feet, or floats...what a pain...it ain't pretty...you can test fit as much as you want, and I have, but I can't figure out how to test fit 8 parts that all have to go together at the same time...gee, good putty practice I guess.

Ralph the only advice I could offer is build a jig for the floats so that you can get everything positioned as needs be, then lock it down. Then build the struts up mirroring each part as you go so the left always matched the right. Once the struts are firmly in the floats, then lay out the mounting points on thr underside of the plane, again making sure both side match, left right, fore and aft. It's time consuming but I can't think of any easier way to do it.

At least, unlike the Arado, there don't appear to be any tensioning wires to run between the struts/floats. It looks square in the photos here anyway.

    Thanks Rick & Rob-
I will remind myself that no matter what the finished product looks like, it will still be the best HE-115 I ever built...

Great work Ralph, its coming together. The whole hard work on this kit will be rewarded in a stunning result.
Keep up the good work 🙂
There is a He 115 book from the Waffenarsenal series in my library, if you need some detail pics, i will dig it out.

Ralph, in terms of finishes, you may want to consider spraying the floats with Alclad aluminium (or similar) before your other top coats, and then lightly exposing the Alclad beneath to simulate natural wear/salt corrosion.

It is looking good Ralph, all the patience has worn off to great effect sir.
I agree with Rob on the Alcad idea.

Have painted underside (except for yellow wingtips and stripe) and given first thin and and uneven coat to uppers. It will even out with another coat or two.
To would-be builders of this kit I will advise: Though it is a challenge and is difficult for me get things right, if painting is your favorite part of building a model, there is a lot here for you to love!

She doesn't look like much now, I trust it will get better -
