George (@gblair), I considered joining this build, but I have commitments to build another project for a friend that I've been putting off because of the Thunderbolt, San Francisco, and Mohawk builds and I really need to get that one done first. Perhaps later, but I suspect by then, you guys will be done.

I understand, Carl (@clipper). I have this F-104 going, along with a Wellesley, and I am completely rearranging my hobby room. In addition to all that, we are going to New Orleans to visit the WW2 Museum on the 15th. We have already decided that the F-104s will be no pressure builds that we will work on as we have time. You can always join later.

My first steps into this 104 build.
Painted the interior parts light grey, barely visible from the grey sprue, and the exhaust is painted burned metal.

Great idea, guys. I’ll be watching closely. I’ve actually been thinking of building the original Esci issue of that kit lately. I have an Esci aftermarket decal sheet that looks surprisingly viable to use on it. It has a couple of interesting options including natural metal Greek and Belgian planes. I just don’t have a lot of build time left this year and have an Airfix Mosquito and two Hasegawa Ki-61s that I’m trying to get across the line. Not to mention the Emden for the WW1 group build. I’ll be watching for inspiration to get mine going sometime early next year.

Thanks a lot, my friend @j-healy! Would be great to see you building the original Esci edition. I recall those Esci aftermarked decal sheets were quite nice.

Spiros (@fiveten), Always interesting to see these sort of size comparisons. You should do the same one, but also include a WWII prop plane for comparison. It really shows how aircraft have grown in size. Even a Thunderbolt looks small in comparison to modern jets.

Thanks my friend @clipper! Indeed, size comparisons are really interesting!

    Looking good, Spiros @fiveten
Compared to most airplanes, the length/width ratio of the 104 is pretty odd.
