    My friend @johnb: It took me several rounds of filling and sanding to achieve a relatively good result. At first round I used liquefied styrene, whIch I am familiar with, then normal plastic filler. I believe your attempt with your plastic filler will be successful if you persist. If the anomaly still persists, I would also recommend adding a droplet of cyanoacrylate glue on top of the already sanded filler and sand smooth.

    John@johnb: use CA glue like Spiros advised. Works very well on shallow sink marks. You may have to do several applications. It’s always something isn’t t?

    The problem with liquefied styrene (unless applied in very small and thin layers) is that the cement portion is subject to extended cure time and will shrink a little. Black CA glue applied in small amounts and cured with accelerator, then sanded right away, and then examined if more is needed will provide a great surface and will allow detail restoration as needed.

    All this construction work is coming along great John (@johnb), Spiros (@fiveten).

    @fiveten, @eb801, @clipper, thanks a lot for those valuable advices. Definitely something that I can use to get rid of those marks.

    First time I used CA to fill those sink marks as advised. Thanks for that. First I applied a drop with a tooth stick.

    Next grinding and polishing till it looked smooth, but as you can see, a second round is required but it definitely looks promising.

    Also drilled an opening for the Vulcan cannon to make it look a bit more realistic.

    The main thing about using CA is to sand it fairly soon after it has set. It gets very hard after 8 hours or so and is harder to sand, making it more likely that the surrounding plastic will be affected. Black CA is somewhat more forgiving and can be sanded more easily. Another trick I use is to hold the part at various angles close to a light source after sanding. This often reveals small spots that need additional work. If done properly, you can often get away with no rework required after applying the primer coat.

    Great job, my friend @johnb! Good that cyano glue worked on those nasty sink marks. Great trick to open the gun exit!

    @clipper, I did sand the surface approximately fifteen minutes after applying the CA. That worked quite well. I need to check where I can get that black CA, never seen it here so far.
    @fiveten, thank you, Spiros.

    That CA glue worked well, didn't it, John, @Johnb? AMMO makes a black CA glue. Sure makes it easier to see what you're sanding.

    @eb801, thank you, Eric. So far I'm pretty happy with the outcome, definitely an approach that I will use more often from now on. Going to have a look for the black one from AMMO, thanks for letting me know.

    Very nice John (@johnb). Are you putting missiles or wing tip fuel tanks on this bird?

    That F104 is coming along nicely, John @johnb! All that sanding takes time but it’s worth the effort!
