    The Mule

    I decided that I need a paintmule

And going through the stash I found that I have quite a few Hasegawa 109’s that I have never built. One is even a FiSK199, and I have two different kits of that one. I probably will use a eduard 109 to make the FiSK199, so the majority of parts are available for a mule.

It is not going to be fitted with a interior, so fast forward it is

    Major assembly yesterday evening

    And finished today before breakfast!

I have actually never built a Hasegawa 109 before, so I was actually rather pleased with the quality of the kit! Yes, it shows its age, and there are so many offerings out there that are better in so many ways. BUT – the canopy! WOW – perfect clear parts, and ultra thin too! Now I almost regret having doomed this one to become a paintmule, but that might encourage me to break open another box later on for a proper build. Fortunately I have a few of these in the stash.

as always comments are more than welcome – what are your thoughts on having a dedicated paintmule?

    Great progress, my friend @airbum!
Have two Hasegawa Emils (yes, the initial release "wrong" ones...) and a Gustav to build.
Believe it or not, I have never built a 109!

Exciting news - the competitor Heinkel He 112B is just announced by LF-Model in 1/48. Even if LF is a limited run manufacturer, it is bound to be an interesting kit.

Stay tuned for more info as it gets available!

    Erik, @airbum
This is an interesting kit to look out for. I have one of the old Classic Airframes He-112 kits in the stash, and it is also a limited run model. I will definitely be watching for this new version to hit the shelves. Thank you for the heads up. 🙂

Did you ever decide to keep the Hasegawa as a paint mule or are you using it for building now ? I like these older Hasegawa 109's. They might not be as detailed as some of the newer 109 models are, but they make up for it by being a good fitting model that's not hard to assemble.

Thanks guys. Ladislav told me it should be available mid-sumer.
@lgardner, the Hasegawa is indeed doing service as a paint mule, and appear happy to do so 🙂
Having fast-tracked one, I am certain another one will follow with a proper build at a later date. - and I also have the CA He112 kit, so now I might have to build that one if no sooner, then when the new kid(t) arrives.

    Keep it fun out there

    Progress at last

Some recent progress at the 109-werke

I got the airbrush fired up the other day, and while I were on a roll, I decided to give 3 109’s a few coats of Tamiya semigloss clear.

They will be presented in their own topics too of course, but pressed for time I just took a few snapshots.

Another 109 or three may be in the planning stages, but they will be presented when the time permits them getting started in the coming months. As most of you know, I have quite enough builds going on at the moment

Erik, those 3 Bf-109s are looking great, the finish line isn’t that far way now 😉
I wonder if you could post a few images of the plastic inside that LF box? (assuming you’ll be getting one of course)? The romanian 112 is a good choice as livery

    Thanks gents.

@holzhamer, the 112 has not been released yet, but will be "this summer" Ladislav has told me. He has promised to let me know as soon as they hit his warehouse! I shall be posting the plastic as soon as mine arrives. (as far as I know there will be 3 boxings, all with different colors)

Look great, Erik (airbum). Sometimes I hate firing up the airbrush to paint one thing on a model, but being able to do 3 models at once makes all the airbrush cleaning worth it.
